Now disclaimer if you are in the Dark Sun Campaign at SNHU, Stop Reading this is not for your eyes unless you want spoilers, and if you make reference to this post bad juju will happen.

Now that thats done with. I have in my party an Elven, Sorcerer King Pact Warlock, Veiled Alliance agent in my party. Who, unknowningly did the following:

  • Denied the request of a flirtatious waitress. Who was secretly his Veiled Alliance contact in Balic.

  • He spoke outloud about murdering said waitress in a crowded room.

  • Then spoke about killing her with defiling magic

  • Then spoke about sewing her dead body into the animal carcass that was used to make his steak.

Now how should the Alliance retaliate? The plan so far is to have a trial inside a mind/dreamscape where he is given an assignment to redeem himself. I'm also debating about switching out his Pact blade for a preserver equivalent implement. Any ideas? The game takes place in Balic, in the Thespian House, just in case you needed to know.

Unknowingly? Like he didn't know she was his contact?

Yup, he wasn't told where the Veiled Alliance was in Balic, only that they had a group there.

He's trying to take back it as OOC. But its not needed for what I'm

So, he basically proclaimed himself a defiler in a very public place? I think the VA are probably the least of his worries at this point. Pretty much everyone in the city is going to want him dead...

There may be a degree to which you as a DM are culpable for not making it clear that the waitress was a VA contact, so think about that a little before moving ahead with a "punishment". However, it sounds like the character (or possibly the player) has an obnoxious personality, and I wonder why the VA would induct him in the first place. I think you should have an out-of-character talk with the player about not behaving so immaturely.

I think you can forge ahead with your plot, though; especially since the character seems to be a spy planted amongst the sorcerer-king's retinue, it would really be in the Veiled Alliance's interest for people to think he was a horrible defiler (as long as he didn't actually defile). Nobody would ever guess he was a VA agent. The VA, in fact, could encourage him to talk it up.

@waxwingslain...so he just "spoke" of it - as in threatened that he'd do it? Better, but still sounds a bit mindless...

Yeah, I mean, the player sounds like a total dope, but it's easy enough to play off--like I said before, he seems to be a Veiled Alliance agent deeply embedded within the sorcerer-king's organization, so he SHOULD be openly talking evil defiling stuff all the time so everyone believes him to be an evil defiler (while all the while he doesn't actually ever defile, and passes info on to the Veiled Alliance).

You are a very lenient DM. He should already be dead by now. You DON'T go around telling everybody that you are an arcane spellcaster, least of all a defiler!
