#2 tethias Sep 16, 2010 21:25:23	Irikos, one of Rajaat's generals and so called Left-Hand of Rajaat came to town knocking with the sword known as the Silencer of Bodach (obviously not known as the Silencer of Bodach at the time). Bodach was a neutral power not involved in the Cleansing Wars, and they tried to stay neutral but got drawn into the conflict anyway and sacked. During the climax of the battle, the defilers and preservers of Bodach united in desperation to defeat the unstoppable Irikos and succeeded, at a terrible price. I wrote a backstory to this stub which was provided in Artifacts of Athas for my own campaign about 15 years ago and it's been preserved here off of my original website (which was on geocities at the time): siltskimmer.org/_access/cityofbodach.doc I should get around to finishing and editing it, lol. In short though you shouldn't let the "official" story get in your way.

#5 Duke5150 Sep 17, 2010 5:59:37	Tethias summed up the details in the first part of his post. The complete story was found in the 2e book of artifacts under the silencer's history. Irikos and his armies destroy the armies of bodach and sacked the city but the most powerful sorcerers of bodach managed to destroy Irikos with a "might spell of destruction".
#6 commieclone Sep 17, 2010 12:45:19	I was under the impression that the destruction of Bodach predated the cleansing wars.  The Right Hand of Rajaat (Myron, wielder of the Scorcher blade, who later became the 4th Champion, tasked with genocide against the trolls) and and the Left Hand of Rajaat (Irikos, wielder of the Silencer blade) were Rajaat's go-to guys and proto-champions during the Preserver Jihad, when Rajaat did his best to discredit and wipe out the majority of magic-users. Of course this was the end-result of some muddied canon waters and originally Irikos was stated as being a champion of rajaat who had succeeded in killing the orcs and took out Bodach during the cleansing wars.  This was later retconned as he being a proto-champion during the preserver jihad who was INTENDED to become the champion tasked with killing the orcs (just like Myron was intended to be tasked with the trolls) and Bodach's fall predated (but was one of the things which directly led into) the actual start of the various genocides. Bodach was an incredibly large, powerful and neutral city-state stuffed to the brim with powerful magic-users and artifacts.  Irikos finagled a way to attack them.  They retaliated by releasing some kind of magic that obliterated everything and resulted in a curse that causes the dead to rise and walk during the night within the city, resulting in an eerily empty and peaceful ruined city during the day (which could give the impression it's a safe place to hunker down . . . only for the countless undead to appear once the sun sets, resulting in a Romero film scenario).
#7 Duke5150 Sep 17, 2010 20:50:14	In the Tribe of One trilogy, bodach was presented with it's dead rising every night to collect  the valubles left in the city and pill them in one place. It was also the hidding place of the Wanderer-Avangion.

The document only survived to be put on Gru's website because I had a 10 yo printed copy in my desk drawer, which I photocopied and sent to Kamelion in the UK, who then manually scanned it with a device that recognizes letters, recreating the digital document. I, for one, want to know what happens after the preserver and defiler protagonists shake hands...

Indeed,  it is I - the lawkeeper Efkenu - was my pen name back then, oh almost 15 years ago now I found that while the story is preserved in the wayback machine archive, the timeline was not, so I'm very grateful that you took the time to preserve this on the whole. The original copies are probably stored in a hard drive on my 386 somewhere in storage. I am reacquainting myself with 4E materials and of course, going through all of my 2e notes. I will probably restart on the story sometime soon. It needs some editing too ^_^
