What would you like to see worked on when 4E DS comes out?

There's bound to be stuff you wanted in, and that never made it to the books - a rule, monster, or magic item - that you'd like to see converted to 4E.

What is it?

1. I would like to see Athasian familiars (see Arcane Power for rules on familiars). Any arcane class can use them now, even templars (i.e. warlocks).

2. An addendum to the gladiatorial articles from Dragon, adapting them for Athas.

Hmm... I'd have to think about that one. Honestly, I'd like to see 4E details on the city-states, but those may well exist in the main book that will be released. I'm more interested in the environment/setting being presented than necessarily specific mechanics involved at this moment.

(side comment) Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Templar independent of Warlock? I thought that Templar was something that could be potentially applied to a number of different classes, not just Warlocks (but that the demo/test done had the Templar be a Warlock).

Templar is a Character Theme (like the DMG2's Monster Theme concept), but now Dark Sun also offers a new warlock pact, the sorcerer-king pact....hence, templar.

Ahh, good point. Sorry to derail the thread.

I'd like to see maps and details as to what's in the Pristine Tower.  Nothing has been done to my knowledge (except for "The Amber Enchantress" novel) to describe, show or detail what and where this tower is.  What an awesome place to have a paragon or epic level adventure for my players.

Check out Dregoth Ascending, Part 3, for the wonderful images created by Brian Sanchez, both of the outside of the tower, and the inside of the cupola, where Sadira becomes a sun-wizard in Amber Enchantress, and where Manu becomes Hamanu in The Rise and Fall of a Dragon King.

The art direction I gave Brian matched as close as could be the descriptions in Amber Enchantress.

Btw, Brian, you rock!

Would love it, Brian! The results could be hosted on someone's site, perhaps on The Athasian Cartographer's Guild.

A moving camera view of the hazy, mirror-like insides of the Steeple of Crystals would be incredible, as all the reflections would change and move with the camera.

Go for it, Brian!

Somebody else also did an incredible city view of Draj, but I never saw the end result. It might have been abandoned. I think Jon was running that.

Honestly I would love to see the world expanded beyon the tablelands.

though I wasn't overly impressed by the 2nd box set I did enjoy some of the setting
to the north and to the west.

Definitely. Just ask when ready!

They're not releasing Aarokocra and Pterrans, although Aarokocra would be a bit tough to include (penalties penalties penalites just doesn't happen anymore).  I'd like to see them worked on.  I guess for Aarokocra they could go with a move action at-will power that gives them a fly speed until the end of their turn (the move action just gets them off the ground, they have to double move to fly), and then have feats and paragon paths that change this to a standard action, then a minor action, then a free action; and add in sustain move, sustain minor, then an actual flight speed.

Sounds good. Add this to the thread on what you'd like to see worked on when 4e comes out.

1. I really want additional (and lots of) information on the Dark Sun races. Something like the "Ecology of..." dragon articles or the sub-races articles.

Examples from other settings: Forgeborn, Winterkin , Dusk Elves.

I would love to see Tribal Halflings, Dune Runner Elves, Focused Dwarves and the rest of the lot including feats that make them unique to Dark Sun and able to survive the harsh wastes.

2. Similarily, details on the culture of the City-States and their Templars, their Sorcerer Kings, and some other player class/themes exclusive to the city might be really cool. In 2nd edition, a Urikite and Nibenese Templar used the same rules - the character's backgrounds were the same and the adventures were completely different. Something to make characters have different and unique spells and skills would really bring forth the uniqueness of the city-states.

For example: Gladiator-Fighters from Draj specialize in the use of the Quabone mace and get the following at-will... ; Templar-Assassins from Nibenay can learn special Shadow powers from their King, such as...

3. Half-Giant player race that players like the 2nd edition Half-Giant.

4. Weapons, equipment and rewards exclusive to Dark Sun: Lots of weapons and magical items that are unique to the Dark Sun setting and emphasizes Psionic and Primal power sources, themes, Dark Sun races or the other optional rules from Dark Sun.

Character Backgrounds (from DMG2) for being from a region, being a noble, a former slave, the child of a politician, member of a desert tribe, etc.

Where's that?  I can't find it.

Sorry, I must have been at work, in-between tasks. Didn't notice.

I fail to see how Dark Sun minis can be worked on by the community (hint in the name of the thread: What would you like to see worked on when 4E DS comes out... ).

I would like to see the world outside the 4e setting that was included in the 2nd boxed set.  The Deadlands, the Trembling Plains, the Last Sea, the Jagged Cliffs, and the Kreen Empire still exist, still are active, and still are places that can be incorporated into the story.  Dregoth and Guestinel (which I can't spell) are important.

For me, the reset is silly, because I always did my own thing.  I would do my own reset every time we gamed.  The larger the world to explore, the better.  Some may like the smaller, Tablelands only setting.  I want sandbox.

Alas, I missed the intended "by the community" in the thread title... I actually interpreted the thread title to be anybody including WotC, this community, 3rd party (athas.org). WotC or some other minis producing company could work on producing DS minis.

Unless some virtual tabletop software allows for 3D model imports... in which case, Silverblade could make some kickass virtual minis Wink.

Yeah, the Dead Lands and Trembling Plains are pretty cool. Ash clerics and undead khvakhas were nice.

And even far south Celik, with the ruins of its segregated city districts. They were all cool additions by athas.org, even if they are unfinished.

I'd like to see the 2nd edition published adventures 4e-ified.  I have fond memories of "Arcane Shadows" and would like to see it again.  Keeping Korgunard alive was fun.

There are bound to be holes in the campaign book on the notable groups running around. Villlichi, the Order, etc.

Can I request not to go near Elf-lings or however you spell that abomination. :P

edit:How'd that quote get in there...

I was dropping in to say this.

Especially consider the flipbooks for those who still have them; The art may not be the world's best, but it is nice to have a visual for encounters.

i'd like half giants as a large character class NOT all that goliath nonsense.

and i'd like a point system for defiling sort of like taint points from the Heros of Horror.
