| #1sinlessJun 18, 2010 1:17:26 | One of the mechanics that I have not seen mentioned from 2nd edition is that all non psionic characters had Wild Psionic Talents. I assume this rule is not being brought over, so I was wondering if anyone had any home brew rule that they were planning on using to simulate it. As of right now I am planning on extending the natural enhancement system to give the players random (or maybe selected) psychic boons as they level. Any other ideas? |

By doing this you can design a character with as little or as much psionic talent as you wish. There may even be a wild talent feat or theme available. |

I believe the feats will cover this issue, the theme can also work. In the end is all about the flavor the player adds to her character. |

| #5mouthymercJun 18, 2010 11:24:46 | There is also the potential for a Wild Talent multi-class similar to the Spellscarred of FR. If not in the books for the setting, it could crop up in a future article in Dragon. |

If you want to give everybody a semblance of psionic power, rather than just those who choose a theme or class combo, you could just allow everybody to take either one cantrip (reflavor it as psionic) or one of the Psion's class powers. They're minor effects, not incredibly powerful, and can help the flavor you seem to be after. The Psion's powers would be a bit more combat-helpful, but they're also encounter instead of at-will, so that helps. Would that get the effect you're looking for? |

| #9PennarinJun 18, 2010 18:40:27 | Welcome back, Ludwig! Dragon Magazine has recently reopened the Mind's Eye series of article, the first one describing psionic boons meant to replace items. |

That is exactly what I am looking for and if what Ludwig says is true, then this will work all the better. I really like this idea of giving nearly no magic items. IMO it suits the Athas much better than the way it worked in 2nd edition. It is hard to be incognito carrying a treasure trove of magic items through Urik. I hope no templar decides to detect magic. |

Except for a few that will be treated as almost artifacts of a bygone era. |

There will be select magic items the players can acquire, though very rare, and some puzzles I have been working on will require a magic item or two to solve. |
