| #1DontEatRawHagisNov 16, 2011 12:00:37 | So I was reading this post: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... And was wondering how DMs have dealt with Arcana Cantrips on Athas. I can see still allowing them seeing as taking them away would be taking away class features, but to what extent does using "Light" or "Mage Hand" a/effect the environment or the user? Have any of you done anything to Dark Sunify cantrips? (Maybe whatever object that light was cast on breaks unless the user sustains the effect) |
| #2Chiba_MonkeyNov 17, 2011 23:36:15 | Since most of those powers can be replicated by Wild Talent Psionic powers, I would rule it fairly easy for a wizard to disguise them as psionic instead of magical in nature if he doe snot wish to defile. Of course, if he does (and I don't know why he would for a cantrip), he cannot disguise it as anything but defiling Arcane Magic. |
| #3GallardNov 18, 2011 1:59:34 | technically in 4e, only daily powers are eligable for Arcane Defiling (sans the PP feat for enc/a-w). extrapolating this line of thought, it seems only massive expenditures of power (ie, dailys) require the arcanist to overtap the land for power in a combat situation. following that, for 4e sticklers i am of the opinion that all arcane spells are eligible for defling in a non-stressful situation. including cantrips. for non-sticklers, ive tried a few different things, but in the last game i ran i created 3 different Arcane Defling powers: 1 each for At-Wills, Encounters, and Dailys. they werent very good, but the wizard appreciated the extra temptations. |
