AL Game starting over

The Situation: I am the current AL DM for a fairly regular group in a FLGS on Sundays. I started season 2 as a player and switched to DM partway through the season when our DM burned out trying to run 3 games a week and just wanted to play. I have DM'd a bit in the past, 90% of the time from a module or other published work, but not as a part of organized play.

The Problem: The players are Level 8, but we have run out of adventures for at least 2 more Sunday games. Not a huge deal... Harried in Hillsfar is out so we are just going to make some new characters... and I can always run the Lost Mines again.

But here is my idea: This group is fairly regular. I was thinking about starting them with LMoP which should get them close to Level 5, the playing 1-04 (Dues for the Dead) to get them up to Level 5 ~6500 xp , then 1-10 to 1-14 will get them to ~31250 xp, then 2-3 and 2-4 go to ~38250 xp, then 2-9 will get them around ~45250 xp, then 2-13, 2-14 & 2-15 end up with ~52000 xp... that means that hopefully we will be the right level to start the season 3 tier 2 modules right after 2-15, then go into the season 3 tier 3 modules...

Anyway... playing once per week, that should get us to season 4.

My question is this.... If they take their character to a con, they won't get kicked out because we played Season 1 adventures during Season 3, will they?

The admins will give us considerable notice should any adventures be scheduled for retirement. Until this occurs, all published Expeditions and hardcover adventures are legal regardless of season. You are still required to use the current season's Players Guide for the purpose of AL rules.

In addition, all characters of the correct tier can play any adventure, regardless of story origin. You can have a Tyranny of DragonsElemental Evil, and Rise of Demons character(s) at the same table, and all of them are legal regardless of which season the adventure comes from (season 1-3).

You are still limited to playing the DDEN (encounters) modules on Wednesdays, and are still limited to playing Expeditions at a store, public location sponsored by a store, or publically available online event. Lost Mines, and the hardcover adventures can be played privately any day of the week however (but can also be played on Wednesdays as encounters if desired).

Great. I suppose I just misunderstood because we (my group) all changed characters after season 1... we thought we were supposed to. Thanks!

Casually playing season 1 should have got your group to between level 6-8, higher with a fast group or a DM that was good at cutting out the boring parts(caravan *yawn*).  So you pretty much WERE supposed to swap characters if you intended on doing any of the season 2 adventures that were first released.  IIRC there was one tier 2 expedition out of the first 4.  At the beginning of the new season, the 5+ level characters wouldn't be able to play the original free Encounters material either which theoretically is what most AL tables are playing for the first 9-13 sessions of the season.
