| #1andychu10Aug 11, 2015 13:22:53 | I have a friend who wants to start running some AL over Roll20. I already have a character that i made during Gencon and would like to use it during his sessions. What do I need to do to make sure my character stays league legal? If another party member has an illegal character (birdman for example) does that make my character then illegal? |
| #2CahPahkahAug 11, 2015 13:56:19 | The short answer: Talk to your DM and confirm that he/she wants to run their game using AL rules and in keeping with the spirit of organized play.
If the answer is 'yes', then have at it and have fun with your AL character! If the answer is 'no', then have at it and have fun with your non-AL character!
In general, your character will remain AL-legal as long as both you and your DM are aware of and try to abide by the ALPG; the only likelihood of divergence comes up if your DM is running an AL adventure but isn't interested in maintaining AL rules. If you're both on the same page there, you should be fine. |

| #5KalaniAug 11, 2015 14:26:53 | You only need a DCI number if you play your character at a public location. Once you have one, you should add it to all of your characters going forward. You need your DMs DCI number if they have one. If they don't and the game is a home game - don't sweat it. If it is a public game - the DM and all players require a DCI number |

| #7KalaniAug 12, 2015 13:05:44 | I cannot recall where I read this - but you only require a DMs DCI number if playing the event at a store. Games run at home do not require DCI numbers in order to be considered legitimate AL games. The AL is run on an honor system, and knows that many DMs who play - may only play at home and as such, the AL cannot (in good conscious) expect those DMs to have DCI numbers. DCI numbers are used primarily for tracking attendence at stores, and to give WPN stores credit for games run at their location (or on their behalf). |

| #12LefferDPAug 12, 2015 15:49:17 | I have a sort of related question: How does running episodes work outside of the context of Encounters? If I wanted to just run single adventures from the Alarums and Exercursion chapter in PotA, would that be AL valid? How about individual dungeons from Chapter 5, like just running the Fane of the Eye or The Howling Caverns? |
| #13TyranthraxusAug 12, 2015 20:11:05 | Leffer: THe issue here is that you can only start an AL character from Level 1. You cant say build your Hafling Rogue, Mr Bubbles under non AL rules (ie not using the rules as layed out in the Players Guide) and get him to say Chapter 5 and then suddenly decide you want to play through that under the AL Rules. A character cannot go from being AL 'non compliant' to AL 'Compliant'.
Lets take the Fane again. Lets say the group has played expeditions games and gotten to X Level and the Fane of the Eye is designed for X level also. They all have log sheets for previous things they have done and all were built via AL rules. Thats fine. You can start in at Prince of the Apocaylpse at any point your dm decides to run. (obviously he/she wont pick a point in the module where you are too easy/hard). Some DM's might say 'Look we are going to have to restart with all new characters to play through Princes from scratch) Others might start at Feather Spire with higher level AL characters.
The issue really comes down to 'Does everyone have logsheets that are 'clean' and 'honest'. I think the issue in the forumulative years of AL (the early years if you will ) has been the amount of players hearing about this AL thing but never really investigating it. They get up to say levels 4-5 (and the point where people get fully invested in their character) and then someone in the group might get really into AL and reads the Players Guide. Sadly by that points its too late really to make those characters AL Compliant. AL has definetly been doing a much better job this year to get its knowledge out there so people can start straight off the bat with logsheets and the like. |

| #18AvrossAug 15, 2015 13:00:43 | The one thing I am still confused on myself...and forgive me for being obtuse here, especially since it's hijacking the thread a bit.
What can be run? I mean this in the sense of advancing characters before bringing them back to an LGS or AL-event at a Con.

| #20lestroissauvagesAug 17, 2015 9:54:58 | It looks like they put ddex3 out on the public site - will that then be legal for home al play? |
| #21SkerritAug 17, 2015 13:24:55 | DDEX3-1 Harried in Hillsfar is legal for home play. However, it is the only Expeditions adventure that is currently legal for home play.

| #24SkerritAug 18, 2015 6:14:07 | To my knowledge there is no way to access it outside of Dragon+, though several people have reposted the link. I do not believe there is any plan to provide the adventure through any other method. |

| #26SkerritAug 18, 2015 8:39:57 | Oh, yes, DDEX3-1 is on the normal downloads page for public play as well. As for putting DDEX3-1 up for public play, that was a descion made at WOTC to promote Dragon+ and so it doesn't promote the magazine if you don't have to use the magazine to get it. |

| #29KalaniAug 18, 2015 9:48:48 | I got the PW from my store yesterday so they have been distributed to at least some of the stores.
When I went onsite however - none of the adventures were available for download yet. The infrastructure exists, as does the players guide and pregens but not much else at this time. |
