| #1zagora_01Mar 14, 2015 16:45:04 | in one of my previous posts, Skerrit stated they were discussing my realms at winter fantasy. I'm just wondering if someone can share the results of the conversation that was hinted at.

| #5UndrhilMar 17, 2015 6:13:20 | My group still talks and 'complains' about the MyRealms I wrote with Chillborn Zombies and they were level 1 or 2 starting out.
I keep telling them that they survived it so they shouldn't be complaining about it. LoL |

I wrote a couple of MyRealms mods for LFR, and the last one really pointed out the difficulties with the format. It was a module I and another local were putting together because my character had gained a story award where he'd sold his soul to Asmodeus, and at the conclusion of the module series discovered that there might be a way to get it back (by participating in a MyRealms specifically with that as the subject). We came up with the basic outline and decided to split the two encounters we envisoned for the mod.
When we came back to review our encounters, it was clear that the guy I was working with had a very different idea of what the module was intended to be, structure-wise. My encounter included an odd new minion mechanic that was intended to make minions very difficult for strikers to defeat, reinforcing that the low-damage controllers should be the ones handling them; my idea was that a self-designed module should challenge a party in ways that a regular published module might not attempt. His encounter, meanwhile, was almost a literal cake-walk, designed with the idea that the only reason we were playing the module was to get to the end and collect the treasure, so why put in more than the minimum required challenge to achieve that goal.
Basically, the challenge is to come up with a format that doesn't just encourage local writers to create XP and gold farms for their local groups, while ensuring that 'creative' DMs don't use the system to punish their players with a parade of rust monsters and grey oozes.
