#1 Durik_ke_Mendeyr Jan 29, 2015 11:36:48	In 4th edition fluff they demoted some deities to exarchs.  So what were once deities became more intermediaries to actual deities.  Is this concept still valid for D&D play.  Can we choose to have a character worship a legal deity through one of their exarchs?     For example can I have an acolyte worship Tempus through their devotion to The Red Knight?

#3 Oraibi Jan 29, 2015 13:34:11	Only a few characters are required to choose deities under AL rules -- acolytes and clerics, and they are required to choose from the list of FR deities and non-human deities in the back of the PHB (per ALPG page 3). Other characters "can" choose a deity from that list, but it doesn't seem to be a requirement. My paladin noble character is a follower of Siamorphe. As she is neither a cleric nor an acolyte, she's not required to have a deity (and thus not required to choose one from the list). By strict interpretation, she has no deity under AL rules, but such a thing shouldn't prevent me from roleplaying her as I choose. So I would say that as long as your acolyte character officially worships Tempus for campaign purposes, she would be free to describe that worship in any way you wish -- such as saying that worship is through her devotion to the Red Knight.
#4 warfteiner Feb 01, 2015 0:21:24	You can absolutely use exarchs.  However, those personalities and aspects of a deity, for current edition rules, are nothing more than a name change - the listed alignment and other entries on the table at the back of the PHB will not change.
#5 Nozareem Feb 01, 2015 23:47:16	If they have the cert for deaths domain there at Winter Fantasy this week after I assume you play " dues of the dead" mod I can be eithor a cleric of Jergal who is a exarch and still around in 5th because nothing happens to him in cannon in books or sundering.  If not I'll be a cleric of Bhaal since he just got brought back in cannon.
#6 Tyranthraxus Feb 02, 2015 0:00:04	I believe the Cert for the Death Domain states ON the cert that its only usuable to make a Cleric of Kelemvor with the Death Domain.

#9 Skerrit Feb 02, 2015 10:14:46	The particular cert that lets you have the Death domain specifies that you must be a cleric of Kelemvor.
