#1 Zephemus Aug 14, 2014 11:18:50	I'm trying to wrap my head around what these story origin imply in terms of character advancement. Does it mean that you can only use the books released in the season that your character comes from? What if the characters from this season want to continue on next season and use new rules from books that come out next year?
#2 shivafang Aug 15, 2014 8:47:55	As currently written, you are SOL.  Only the options pertaining to your Story Origin are available for your character.   When new books come out, they may change the story origin options to include those rules.  It's also possible that some seasons disallow certain story origins (it may be that your Tyranny of Dragons characters can't be played one season.)   I suspect the rules on the subject will be more clear as additional seasons and story origins appear, but for now assume that as written, your Tyranny of Dragons characters will only have acccess to the PHB, because that is what is currently written.
#3 Skerrit Aug 18, 2014 14:43:44	When you choose a Story Origin, your character's creation and advancement is limited to options in the books for that storyline. You can play that PC in advntures from other storylines, but you cannot use character options from the books UNIQUE to that storyline without documention. For example, if Horde of the Dragon Queen is not of the list for whatever the second story origin is, and you wish a make a new character with the second season's story origin, you PC couldn't choose one of the backgrounds listed in HotDQ.
