thanks |
| #2SkerritJul 29, 2014 19:32:12 | You can run Expeditions adventures in any public play setting. To run Encounters you need the backing of a store (though you could run the same adventures/aka the published ones without getting the Encounters kit and it would still be legal if you logsheet it). |

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/pathfinder-society-online-collective for PFS and now https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/dnd-adventurers-league-online-collective a new public group dedicated to Adventurer's League.
So my question is what qualifies as "Public play"? Or do they really mean Wizards sanctioned events?

| #7DM_HEEGZAug 03, 2014 8:40:20 | I think it all makes pretty good sense to me now. I'm going to see if it will be simple or possible to go through my FLGS (which is pretty far away) to be more official. So far none of my players care too much about certs, so if it is too much of a hassle I think I'll go the custom support route without certs for my gaming group. Thanks for the timely replies Skerrit, they have been helpful. |

| #10DrokothAug 05, 2014 20:33:32 | Lets hope Wizards of the Coast and The Adventurer's League answers our call for the Online Inclusion, even if we have to broadcast our ugly mugs! If not then its simple - guys like myself that are looking to get involved a little more into the community and without a local gaming shop will be left out ... and that would be a shame! I know of many former players from my old school AD&D days that have thought about getting back into the game. VTT can allow those old crews that want to return to the fold a way to game. Manyof us spent many a teenage summer playing and it only takes one of the crew to get the rest together reguardless of how remote or far apart they are physically. Online Inclusion is a great way to do what the company says it wants to do and get old players back into what they already know is not just a fun RPG but also a social thing! Game On Fellow Gamer! |
| #11TyranthraxusAug 05, 2014 20:57:04 | Drokoth: Im not meaning to impinge on your group, sounds like you had a blast back when you played together.
To me, gaming has always been about meeting new people and trying new games. Heading down to the local game club/store/other .. meeting some brand new gamers or older ones in the area and getting in some roleplaying. I get a little disheartened at stories of people who have given up gaming because either their original gaming group dispersed, 'got old' /had kids/ couldnt game anymore etc.I have game online in the past, it was great too but Its really always been with new people for me each time.. not the same regular group.
You dont need these guys to game, all you need to do is meet up with some new ones! |
| #12TscharodAug 06, 2014 15:31:39 | Skerrit, if I want to run Expeditions in a public convention, library etc. but I have no partnership with any legal store, what about DCIs ? Are they needed (for myself or for the players) to be legal ? That I don't get any certs or additional stuff, just the adventures, I have understood. |
| #13SkerritAug 06, 2014 15:38:49 | You (players and DM) need a DCI to properly fill out the log sheet. I have never tried it, but I think you can get them via the WOTC website in addition to the cards you get in stores, cons or Magic tournies. |
| #14TyranthraxusAug 06, 2014 21:03:42 | Im having difficulty finding the character sheets/log sheets in the Wizards website. I did find them but layoutwise its a bit of all over the place.
Logically everything should be available from the one page.. which it is.. but it should be the first page you go to under AL. Not have to click through to resources.
Esp when some of the resources are available from the first page you go to. ie the basic rules and AL Players Guide
http://dnd.wizards.com/playevents/organized-play Then have to click through to here: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/events/adventurers-league-resources
A) It shouldnt be an article, it should be just a page on the website. C) There is no need to have the basic rules and players guide replicated on both pages.

And you get to it from the drop down menu "Play/Events" -> "Adventurer's League" -> "League Resources". The page you linked for PFS is also created with a content management software, and that page gets updates all the time. What I'm hearing is that you think the link to that page should be more visible, and I think it's just harder to find than it should be.
On this we agree and also would rather it not be that deep. But it looks as permanent as anything else, until they change the organized play model or switch editions.
And I do agree with you about the home play option, but I also hink it's kind of there. Just without a strict reporting system, you might be use to if you played PFS. But you can take any AL legal character through Starter Set and Hoard or the Dragon Queen, and use it in a convention or FLGs game. You just need to make sure you fill out your Adventure Log and be able to trace all your magic items.
Downside to how home play is set up is no certificates to trade magic items, and official way to access Expeditions and Epics. So I guess, I only sort of agree with you. |
