DM rewards clarification

  Not a fan of the forums search function and didn't see anything within the

last month or so.  This question is for the new Out of the Abyss season and

the DM rewards associated with it.  Using the AL guide page 13, it explains

how the Encounters rewards are determined.

 

  So here goes, chapter 1 of the Out of the Abyss, would the DM get 300 exp,

150 gold and 10 downtime days at the end of the chapter (if its tier 1)?

Or if the chapter took two game sessions, would he get the 300 exp, 150 gp

and 10 downtime days after each session? 

 

  I do see where it says chapter, but it also includes the word part.  Haven't

read and of the previous Encounter books PotA or HotDQ to know if those

books contains parts.

When running Encounters, DMs receive DM rewards whenever the PCs receive downtime and renown awards.  Ideally, the DM should have run all of however many sessions it took the PCs to reach that point.  Realistically, if they've run 2/3 or more of them, I'd say they earned it.

  Wow.  Thanks Ainulindalion for the reply.  The new Out of the Abyss does not reward

downtime or renown rewards so unable to use your suggestion on DM rewards.  Was

hoping for some scholarly advice from the veteren AL DM's but guess none want to reply.

When I eventually buy the new Out of the Abyss I will certainly go through it with a fine tooth comb to look for downtime/renown breaks.  Its just not available locally yet.

I haven't bought the book yet, nor have I read through the DDEN3 pdf (as I am currently 2/3 - 3/4 the way through Princes) so I cannot speak to where the episode breaks would be. I can state for the record though that once the campaign staff have had a chance to look through it, you can almost certainly expect a FAQ entry which would give clear episodes for the hardcover book much like they did with Princes.

On a related note:

 

The DM cert for this season that gives you a thing to give a character -- can that only be given to a new character, upon creation, or can it be given to an existing character?

DM certs for a season have to be given to a new character with the matching Story Origin.

 

Out of the Abyss should reward renown and DT more or less at the end of every chapter (which is what the PDF for Encounters states).  It's 17 chapters.
