What happens to players that don't want to spend the same amount of time, how do you rationalize them not paying their lifestyle fees and such?
Also, why does a player need to spend 30 days improving lifestyle - let's say they have a ton of gold they are hoarding, couldn't they just start living it big out the gate? Do we know what lifestyle the PC starts at after creation (considering the low income they will have at level 1 I imagine it's lower)?
in a home game it doesn't matter as much, as PCs aren't awarded a downtime "currency" or allowance of days, and I understand why they need it for OP, I just want to see how we are supposed to be working it out with these situations. |

It's different between expeditions as you can have different groups all the time, but with encounters you can stay with the same group the whole time more or less.
downtime can be banked, but if anyone else is using a downtime activity, then anyone else who just wants to save the days would have to pay for the corresponding days via lifestyle expenses.
DavidArgall - downtime and lifestyle expenses are ruled in AL. You have specific things you can spend downtime days earned on, but must maintain a lifestyle cost in off times wether or not you are using downtime activities. Doing a job is indeed an activity you can do, but that actually depletes your downtime days doing that. It isn't as hand wavey as you think. |
