As such, rather than calculating each downtime day's value in XP (a tedious and unnecessary step), I suggest it be changed so that any XP above 2700 or 64000 simply be added to the starting value of the next level. This abstraction serves to simplify the idea that someone who is almost to the next level would need less time to "catch up" than someone who was at the bottom of the previous level.
Or, to put it another way, implementing my suggestion would mean "catching up" always rewards 3800 or 21000 XP for the same expenditure of downtime days and gold. |

I look at it this way: 5th level is the destination. Regardless of where you start, once you've reached your destination you have "caught up." This way it's up to the player to decide when (or whether) to use this feature, and the decision the player makes has consequences.
But again, that's just me. |

So if you are 4th level with 5,000 XP, you then become 5th level with 5,000XP. You now need 9,000 more XP to get the 14K you need for 6th level |

Unless they planned on characters to finish DDEX1-1 - 1-9 and then go to the new 1-4 mods of the new season and *then* tun the 5-10 mods from season 1 ... which seems kind of stupid, really. |
