Do you pay our lifestyle costs for each day we are in a module, or is it assumed we are at our 'default' expense (as defined by our background and any raising/lowering we have done for spent downtime days.)
For example, in Lost Mines of Pelemvor it takes 3 days just to get to Phandalin - is that 3 days of lifestyle expense right off the bat? The expenses rules in the PHB seem to indicate that we do. |

IF the answer is ration and under the star then no you don't pay your life expense since you already paid for the ration/bedroll If your answer is at the tavern, then no you donT' pay for life expense since you pay for the tavern instead.
Since you are adventurer I would assume you do not own a house so you don't have to pay taxes. If your adventurer gain a manor for them to build up and create there HQ, then maybe the king will ask them for taxes, but that again is not in the lifestyle expenditure.
Lifestyle expenditure is simply a easy and quick way to spend the downtime, instead of asking the player at what INN they want to stay and what meal they order etc... During the adventure they pay as they go, no shortcut |

However I'm asking on the AL forum because there's AL consistency that needs to be addressed. Are we supposed to measure out every expense in town or do we just pay lifestyle and gloss over it. |

I really wish there was a line item on the Adventure Log for living expenses that was paid each module and you did't have to worry about inn stuff. Right now this is a fuzzy grey area that has a lot of people confused (I'm not the only one confused by it - my whole regular gaming table is confused.) |

| #13shivafangAug 18, 2014 16:10:01 | Oh, that's a good question. He didn't say anything about not paying costs for the default lifestyle. From the context, it seems as though he meant you didn't, but he didn't actally say that. So it doesn't really answer my question =Z. |
| #14SkerritAug 18, 2014 16:47:15 | During an adventure you do not pay lifestyle, though some adventures may have costs written into them (particularly those in cities). Its also an adventure could have downtime in it and require you pay lifestyle then, though at the moment there are none that do. During the adventure you are living your default lifestyle granted by your background (unless you altered it with the appropriate downtime activity), and it costs you nothing additional since you are sleeping in the woods, dungeon, or abyssal pit and eating the rations you brought or whatever else you can gather. (Mmmmm lemures... ) Yes this means that in the DnDAL you do get a little bit of a break as far as lifestyle costs go. |
| #15shivafangAug 18, 2014 17:04:43 | Thanks! That's clear and unambiguous, in my opinion! |
| #16freemanjcAug 18, 2014 17:59:10 | Yes, thanks Skerrit! |
