| #1Ren_HalamatherMay 11, 2015 12:32:42 | Hi all! I just looked at the Gen Con events page, and I didn't see Wizards of the Coast listed as one of the compnaies running games. I was wondering if they will be added before the event system goes live Sunday, the 17th at noon?
Also, are they planning on doing the package deal again? That was a blast, and totally worth the $150.
Trevor, Chris, Mike....throw this old DM a bone with some great news!
Thanks, Greg |
| #2SkerritMay 11, 2015 12:36:49 | Yes, there is a wide selection of events at Gen Con, but they are listed under Baldman Games instead of WOTC. WOTC is out of the con organizing business and have handed it all over t o Baldman Games (the same people that do it every year anyway, so you won't notice much if any difference). Also yes, there will be an all access track again.

| #7N7DestroyerMay 13, 2015 23:01:31 | Does anyone know if DDEP-3 will be playabe without having to buy the all access pass at GenCon. |
| #8SkerritMay 14, 2015 7:23:47 | If I recall, roughly half the tables are All Access and the other half are open to anyone. |
| #9PauperMay 14, 2015 7:41:16 | There are 294 tickets on offer for the Season 3 epic in the GenCon event list. This is a bit more than the 264 tickets available in the two all-access tracks (half for level 1-4, half for level 5-10), but the all-access tables are limited to 6 players while the 'regular' tables can (and probably will) seat 7, so the total number of tables will be very close if not the same for each offering.
Of course, the all-access tickets will come with extra perks that will, in theory, make them worth more than double the cost of the individual event tickets -- the all-access pass costs $138, while purchasing separate tickets for the four events in the all-access pass adds up to $48 ($10 for each of the non-epic events, and $14 for each epic).

| #10ThalionelMay 14, 2015 9:35:15 | Is there any word if they'll also have seminar events, as they have previous years? Right now, the Gen Con link under conventions is directed at the information from last year. |
| #11PauperMay 14, 2015 14:05:31 | Wizards of the Coast currently has no events in the system -- Baldman Games organizes and submits the Adventurers League events, and they're putting on a number of seminars under the 'Herald's Guild of DMs' banner.
I suspect WotC's events, if any, will be announced later.

| #12MasterNamerMay 18, 2015 9:15:51 | Is there any way to get all access passes or tickets to the epics at gen con? My friend and I tried to purchase first the all access pass and then the epic tickets at noon on Sunday, but they were sold out within the time it took the page to load. We would be willing to trade high fives and gratitude for any information or help. |
| #13PauperMay 18, 2015 10:02:49 | Wish I could help, because it would mean I found a way in myself -- I didn't get any of the all-access or epic events before they sold out, either, and I am majorly bummed about that.
In theory, there are three things you might try:
1) Check the GenCon site on a regular basis; if someone returns those tickets, they'll show up to be ordered. (Considering the cost of the all-access tickets, I'd expect anyone who ordered them is planning to use them, but it's not impossible that someone might end up not being able to go and has to put the tickets back for a refund.) [Edit: Tickets could also be added if Baldman gets a larger pool of DMs than he's expecting, though at some point sheer space concerns will limit how many tickets can be offered, and we may be at that limit already. No real way to know unless Baldman drops by to tell us.]
2) Ask around various boards if people have tickets they're willing to sell. This is something of a grey area, as I believe part of the terms you agree to when you purchase a badge is that you will not resell your tickets, and if the folks at Baldman check your ticket against your player name they'll find it doesn't match. Not recommended, but certainly attemptable.
3) Show up at the WotC area in Hall C with $150 in generic tickets (for the all-access) or $14 in generics (for either epic) and hope enough people with tickets don't show up so that you can get in with the generics.

| #15SkerritMay 18, 2015 11:17:11 | Sadly the tickets for DnDAL events typically sell out extremely fast; especially the special ones, and we are limited by the amount space we can get. Gen Con is simply outgrowing the space available.

| #19PauperJun 03, 2015 14:16:49 | Picked up tickets for the Season 2 and Season 3 Epics at GenCon!
Huge thanks to MasterNamer and Alphastream, who helped keep me in the loop.
See you guys there!

| #20AlphastreamJul 27, 2015 18:08:21 | Does anyone happen to need several tickets for either Gen Con Epic? I have 3 of DDEP-2 and 5 of DDEP-3. I would want to sell the lot to avoid having to return them. If interested, please send me a PM.
Thanks! |
| #21KalaniJul 27, 2015 18:29:57 | Why did you order so many tickets may I ask? Furthermore, I believe the tickets are not transferable, so you would have to return them. |
| #22Byakugan01Jul 28, 2015 5:24:27 | alphastream = attempted scalping.
Honestly I would just assume he snagged extras for buddies that never showed up...reasonable doubt and all. |
| #23Byakugan01Jul 28, 2015 5:25:37 | One of the guys I know went to Gen Con and im sooooo jealous.
Apparently he writes for Shadowrun, which I had no idea about. |

| #25CahPahkahJul 28, 2015 9:03:20 | Unused event tickets can generally be traded in for generic tickets for their cash-equivalent value, and then used for anything at GenCon. |

| #27KalaniJul 28, 2015 9:54:41 | And how was I to know that from someone's online avatar? I am glad I stand corrected however, as I don't like the idea of scalping. |

| #31TyranthraxusJul 28, 2015 18:01:44 | Yeah Last Minute and Gencon go together like Beholders and a racial diversity parade. |

| #33imaginaryfriendJul 29, 2015 3:36:58 | I saw the alphastream = scalping line.. and I laughed.. because I honestly thought it was a joke...
then I travelled .. came to Indi, rechecked the forums.....
And I am laughing again, but with a lot less mirth and a sense that perhaps these boards seriously interfere with our ability to not assume the worst about people.. |

| #35KalaniJul 29, 2015 7:16:38 | Which is why I did not voice my suspicion in my original comment and assumed an innocent explanation.
When someone else mentioned scalping my response was meant to convey the fact that I too had considered that possibility but that I had not yet made an assumption as to intent (which is why I asked for additional information as to their motives, not knowing the person and never having seen them before).
I completely failed to articulate my reasoning in that response and regret ever writing it. By the time I realized my point was taken in a completely different light, it had already been quoted and the "damage" had been done. Otherwise I would have simply deleted it or edited my post to rephrase.
I did learn something in this thread though - what at least one of the icons meant. I tend to ignore them myself, although I knew they were perks for something. I just assumed they were bonuses for attending cons or other special events I would never go to, moderator tags, VIP tags for high level posters etc - and ignored them.
For the most part, I only care about what a person wrote anyway as I tend to forget who said what but not the content itself. |
| #36KalaniJul 29, 2015 7:20:09 | As far as the playtester beholder goes, was that obtained for participating in the in-house playtest or the closed Beta under NDA. If it was for the latter, I should have one as well as I was in the beta from packet 1 |

| #38AlphastreamJul 29, 2015 10:38:26 | Hi all, no worries. I don't expect anyone to know who I am not any special treatment. (I don't get it at home...)
This really points out that I don't post on the 'new' forums much. I find the software really difficult to enjoy, unfortunately. I should still try to come here more often. About to return the extra tickets. Wish me luck!
