#1 Kalani Sep 12, 2014 19:31:38	I have a character that I created for a HOTD encounters game. During our first session, we managed to complete "Seek the Keep" and "The Sanctuary", with the session ending upon escorting the family to the Keep itself.   Tomorrow, I was planning on playing this character in a 4-6hr Expeditions campaign, which I expect will begin (and likely complete) Episode 1.    According to the AL Players guide, you cannot play the same adventure or episode twice with one character. The problem in this case however, is that I have completed only a very small fraction of the episode, and am wondering whether it is legal to use this character tomorrow, either for the entire event - or upon the party reaching the keep (and then continuing from where my Encounters session left off).   My character currently has 278 XP, broken down as follows:   Session #1: HOTD, Episode 1 (partial completion) - 250XP Session #2: Shadows over the Moonsea (Expeditions) - 28XP   Any help in this situation would be most appreciated, as the player's guide offers little help in this regard.   In addition, the XP cap that I have heard mention for episode 1: Am I correct in assuming this XP cap is only relevant for Encounters due to the casual nature of the event, and that no XP cap exists for homeplay or Expeditions characters? Our Encounters party managed to gain 250XP before even reaching the Keep, and having completed such a small fraction of the episode in the process - it does not seem appropriate to award such a small amount of XP for an Expeditions session which may run several hours, and complete the entire episode.   That, and the fact that we are playing out of the published book itself, which makes no mention of any XP cap (although I have heard mention of it on the forums, which is why I was asking).

Thank you all for your time in answering this question. I will most likely continue playing this character exclusively in Expeditions. My confusion arose as a result of the fact that Encounters normally ends at L3, and yet despite this - the AL players guide seems to encourage players to purchase the book (which I already own) and continue the adventure beyond that point. AFAIK, Hoard ends at L7, and then continues with Rise of Tiamat - neither of which seem to be appropriate for Encounters (L1-3) play, thus the confusion.
