| #1LotsotechSep 04, 2014 9:25:00 | Last night I played Session 1 of Encounters (Hoard of the Dragon Queen), but we didn't finish the entire session. However, I'm not going to be at the next session. When I get a chance to make it back to a game can I continue playing at a Session 1 table or does that count as having "played" it if I only got a piece of it. In the rule I posted below does the adventure = the entire book or a session?
Here are the official rules: Replaying Adventures |
| #2TheBreenSep 04, 2014 17:30:03 | Playing part of an adventure does not prejudice you from being able to play other parts of the same adventure with the same character. Assuming that the table isn't replaying the very same part of the adventure you already experienced, you can continue with the same character.

SESSION: A session is an block of play, from the time you sit down at the table to the time you leave. Typically, sessions run either 2 hours (Encounters) or 4 hours (Expeditions).
EPISODE: An episode consists of a string of multiple encounters which typically lasts over multiple sessions. During an episode, you may not be able to take a short or long rest between sessions. Encounters, HotDQ, and LMoP are organized by episode.
ADVENTURE: May range from a series of episodes (Encounters has 3, LMoP has 4) to a single session (Expeditions).
Some things (award XP and treasure) happen at the end of each session; some happen at the end of each episode (faction points and downtime); some happen at the end of an adventure (all of the above). |
