| #2OraibiMay 01, 2015 19:37:59 | I don't think they actually have posts. So I'd say if you want to join them, you can either go to the Tower of Arcane Might, the Tower of Mysteries, or wander around casting spells until someone shows up to arrest you.
Alternately, there are several Expeditions which allow you to meet members of the Cloaks, who either suggest you join or who sponsor you for membership. (You don't technically need a sponsor, but it helps -- you advance in ranks faster because you get To Wear a Cloak favors.

| #6imaginaryfriendMay 02, 2015 10:28:44 | I assume that since the cloaks are easily fooled (a DC 11 check can make them unable to traceback a fireball) a charlatan and an arcane caster friend can fool them easily? (Caster hides casting...charlatan waves hands and mutters arcane phrases)..
Sure the ashes to ashes risk is dire..but the RP opportunities ![]() |

| #10KalaniMay 03, 2015 8:22:19 | More accurately, you can join the cloaks, and then spend 3DT (from the DT gained at the end of the adventure).
Recording your first Adventure as a Cloak Upon signing up as a Cloak, you are Rank 0. You remain rank 0 for the remainder of the adventure, at which point you become Rank 1 (or rank 2 if you gained the To Wear a Cloak favor during the adventure). You gain 7 Downtime (10 - 3 spent on official cloak business), and must spend 12 or 30gp in lifestyle expenses (for a wealthy, or aristocratic lifestyle for those 3 days).
The 3DT represents the fact that the Cloaks require all members to spend 3 days in each ten-day spent within the city on official cloak business (patrolling, scrying, following up reports/complaints of illegal spell use, trials, etc). These days are "volunteer" service days in which you perform duties assigned to you by a superior, and which you do not have the luxury of following your own pursuits/interests (think of it like a volunteer job).
It is my understanding that you need not pay this DT if you are away from the city (IOWs, if you play a non-Mulmaster adventure).
Spending Downtime While it is not clear in the document, it has been clarified by Greg that the Cloaks expect you to maintain a wealthy+ lifestyle at all times. As such, whenever you spend DT, you must maintain a wealthy+ lifestyle. |
