| #1RCanineFeb 11, 2015 22:13:09 | I'm getting ready to DM AL at a con for the first time (plenty of 4E experience, but thus far I've only been a player for 5E).
I've never actually seen an AL cert—they haven't been available from anywhere I've played yet. Is there a list of certs that are out in the wild? Is there a way to identify them?
I mean, if some player is so intent on cheating that he forges a cert I'm probably not going to make a stink about it, but I'm concerned about derailing a table with a powerful magical item that trivializes the experience or complicated things that cause a disruption.
What do I need to know? |
| #2Coredump00Feb 11, 2015 22:23:09 | if you search, there are spoiler lists for the adventures online various places. I have found them in the past, but not bookmarked.
Most of the items are fairly well known (goggle of night, +1 bow, wands, etc) If someone forges a cert, I expect it would be a forgery of a legit item. So you should not have an issue with 'powerful' items.
But they don't need a cert, they just need it on their logsheet, and there is really no way to know if that is forged or faked. If they have several items written down, that would be the only real clue. |
| #3RCanineFeb 12, 2015 0:39:58 | Yeah, I'm less concerned about fake stuff and more about complex stuff that I might need to make rulings on. Like this Harizawn thingamy. |
| #4PauperFeb 12, 2015 8:46:19 | I'm not aware that there is a cert for Hazirawn -- if there was, a lot of arguing about it would be rendered moot.

Which means no HotDQ magic should be in play, Even some of the LMoP would not be in play. I don't know all of the Exp magic, but the ones I know of are pretty straightforward. |

| #10RCanineFeb 15, 2015 10:42:17 | As an example of what I was looking for in this thread, one of my players this weekend had a cert that apparently allowed him to play a Death Domain cleric.
Because I didn't know such a cert even existed, I wasn't prepared to rule on it at all. It didn't cause any major problems, other than a missed RP opportunity for me to engage with the player. |

| #14RCanineFeb 15, 2015 15:40:44 | Like I said, I'm not concerned about cheating. I'm concerned about being unprepared to make a ruling on rules elements that are new or usually inaccessible to players. |
