Hi,

My Wed night Encounters group has its last session of Lost Mine on Wednesday (tomorrow).

I have 3 players at level 5, one at level 3 and another level 4. I am going to move the game from Lost Mine to the Dessarin Valley and Princes. As such these characters will be moving over and Ive already introduced multiple connectors to hint at the Cults influences extending

A) A dead cultist near the dwarf at the lip of Wave Echo Cave

b) Dead cultists just outside the assayers office in Wave Echo cave

C)A heated argument between Some Cultists and the Spider (before the cultists were overwhelmed). The players could only hear yelling then screens (they then killed her/him)

A Devstation Orb has also made its way to Phandelver courtesy of a recently 'converted' farmer named Eamon who managed to acquire one and then return home and was going to attempt to preach to the other locals. The orb broke and well.... Phandelver is no more. There are some people who survived who are going to say that Eamon was acting strange after his return from Red Larch but I thought the motivation of revenge for Phandelver might be a good one to get the group to Red Larch.

Obviously they wont need to do any of the early side quests to level them to 3, but I want to follow the story as much as I can for AL purposes. I was wondering how I might go about scaling the encounters to handle a level 5 party . Is it a case of just trying to track down more information on the cultists?

Thanks

I have three groups ready to make the same transition.  I have added some of the hook into their back stories, and are using the platinum quest from the book to get them moving.  They are all 4th level at this point, so I plan on keeping the encounters as eventually the XP will even out (being a bit easy to begin with until the xp evens out).  It gives them a bit more leeway with which area they investigate first as well, which is good for my groups, they don't all follow the same breadcrumbs =)

Good luck!

I'd strongly recommend looking at the story hooks and getting players to choose one each.

These tie the PC's nicely into the events.

The whole lost delegation thing is limp as anything and wont carry a game.

I actually created my own. Timon a farmer from the original town in Lost Mine had traveled to visit Family in Red Larch and came back a 'Religous' man. He also took something he shouldnt (an orb of devastation) and destroyed his home town. Some people out in the fields survived and got together and were waiting in the ruins not having decided to move on yet. The adventurers returned from defeating the menace of wave echo cave and were implored by the townsfolk to go to Red Larch to find out what had motivated Timon and get some payback for all the people who had died.

They party went past Conyberry and made their way to Triboar. They stopped to buy provisions and some horses (well some of them). They found out its run by an adventurer who has gone missing along with his group so actually set out to look for him.
