| #1CrojackMar 18, 2015 18:17:55 | Is there any rule that would prevent players from playing multiple characters in the same adventure at the same time? |
| #2TyranthraxusMar 18, 2015 19:22:48 | Yes. The rule is you have to have at least 3 players and at most 7 players on an Adventurers League table. Note 'Players' not 'Characters'. As every play has a character you end up with the same amount of Players as Characters. |
| #3UndrhilMar 18, 2015 19:57:12 | But the rule doesn't say that you can only have one character per player at the table. So, if you have three players but feel that the mod might be better with four characters, could you (as a DM) allow for a player to play an additional character? |
| #4Enevhar_AldarionMar 18, 2015 21:10:48 | I have seen posts by the Admins, both on here and on Facebook, saying one character per player, but I do not see this anywhere in the current or previous Players Guide or any of the official FAQs, though I could have sworn I saw this somewhere official. |

I would definitely cry -undermining- other players. Because you as a player would be taking an extra share of xp and treasure away from everyone else.
Maybe possibly if you only took 1 share of all rewards and you would have to split it. But then you would be permanently a level or 2 behind and both characters would be poor. You wouldnt even be able to upgrade armor or buy healing potions early on.
Home game can let you play however many characters they want. Its not much different than playing a character for a player that had to bail or was sick etc. but that isnt allowed in AL either. If you leave, your character poofs. Might be there in the background. |

| #12AinulindalionMar 19, 2015 11:41:06 | I'm sure there are a lot of home games where people can't necessarily find enough actually players to fill out a proper party. I've played a number of times where the DM ran a quiet character (skill monkey or shooter or perceptive investigator [that one's always good as the DM in case the players are missing something important]) and the other players played multiple because it's difficult to scale down below a proper party size.
To be fair, though, that feels slightly less true about this edition than the previous ones. |
| #13PrimarchxMar 19, 2015 12:57:36 | I wouldn't allow it in my game, for many of the reasons already mentioned. I have no issue with folks having more than one character, of course, but only one at a time at the table, please. |
| #14Enevhar_AldarionMar 19, 2015 20:42:47 | I would tell the players no too, so I guess I am more playing devil's advocate on this, as I have on other obvious things that do not happen to appear in the Official Adventurers League Player's Guide, but which should be because it is supposed to be the Official source for ALL rules governing AL play.
You have to remember that there are two main types of people in Organized Play: the ones who say "if it is not banned in the rules, then it is legal", and the ones who say "if it is not allowed in the rules, then it is illegal." I have known plenty of both, and just by reading the forum here and the Facebook page, it is easy to see that lots of people have had to deal with both types before as well.

| #15Byakugan01Mar 19, 2015 23:50:26 | As far as AL is concerned, you don't get more magic items because you are too low a level. It just makes you take longer to get through the exact same content with the exact same rewards. Since you cannot repeat adventures or expeditions, you would not be able to spam missions to get all your characters geared.
But like i said, i wouldn't allow it solely on the grounds of it undermining everyone else at the table. |

| #17Byakugan01Mar 20, 2015 5:45:58 | Someone said there was benefit from getting less xp. I was just illustrating why that is not the case.
Getting less would only matter if you could replay expeditions. Otherwise you can pretty much do every expedition and chapter and end up at the correct level anyways.
The rewards dont change. |
