| #1PromJul 05, 2014 6:02:33 | I've been asked by one of my friends to DM in a convention called waypoint. I've selected the "Mines of Madness" as one adventure to run, but need another to fill the slots. I've been told that session times are 5 hours. What adventures do people recommend to run over that time frame or do I need two 5 hour slots?
I've never run anything at a convention, so help would be great. |

| #12SkerritJul 07, 2014 8:43:59 | I ran the Starter Set adventure on Saturday and it took 16 hours (with an effort to streamline it a bit). It does have some easily defined break points however, so you could run it section by section a few hours at a time over the course of 4-5 weeks. |

| #14SkerritJul 07, 2014 14:56:11 | We're running it this weekend as a continuous 3-slot adventure and we plan to finish the entire adventure (though we're putting those tables in a room that can keep playing at night, in case they run long). |

| #16AlphastreamJul 08, 2014 8:36:05 | If you are new to DMing at conventions, I recommend the Starter Set adventure. It is fairly easy for a first-time DM to run, uses level 1 pregens, and the adventure has hooks for those pregens. You can either reframe the goal around 5-hours (for example, place the ally they want to save in one of the smaller locations and make that the final goal) or just leave it as-is and invite them to continue play with their own copy of the Starter Set.
Vault of the Dracolich can be run in 5-hours, and can be run for a single table, and it is fun, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone new to convention events. It is supposed to be for experienced DMs. That said, you could read it over and see how it feels for you.
You could contact someone at Wizards, such as @christulach , to ask if they could provide you with Candlekeep (level 1, runs great in 5 hours), but they may or may not want to support that (they have for some conventions).

a very strong adventure available as a $5 download.
multiple play possibilities with up to 8 starting locations for the party.
I have run it 4 times locally. |
