| #1NozareemMar 10, 2015 14:32:59 | They missed the mark a bit with no supclasses like for sorsorer and warlock, and even wizard. They also changed again what Genasi look like from 4th and left out storm which I'm going to miss. They also added the Goliath back in which I liked. The spells were ok but they also could have had a divine cleric subclass of elemental domain example Kossuth god of elemental fire. Any thoughts? |
| #2SkerritMar 10, 2015 14:45:15 | No idea whats in Appendix A and B of the printed adventure, so maybe there are more goodies to come. |
| #3NozareemMar 10, 2015 15:33:43 | After rereading the Genasi they suck in compared to 4 the edtion when they were a more distinct race feature wise. Now they look like some old school Star Trek nockoff blue or green skinned people. It is also messed up that there main stat is Con? It should have been Int based on there origin and then they could have been what ever for the subraces. Also they did have their own societies in FR it was Akanul and Calimshan. Akanul may be gone due to the sundering but Calimshan is still there?! I wonder if WOTC rushed this out and didn't care because it was free and there not making money off it! hope so Skerrit because after screwing up Genasi they need to make some form of repentance. |
| #4SkerritMar 10, 2015 15:42:24 | Rules items like this are not under the pervue of the DnDAL Admins. We don't work on them and I cannot speak to what the intention for them is, or how much time went into them. If you do not like them, you are always welcome to not play them. They are not a critical part of Adventurers League play.
As for FR, Genasi did have their own society on Akanul, which is gone now and they were present in Calimshan, but they never ruled it. The Companion does address that the genasi bloodlines have spread out from Calimshan now that the genies no longer rule it, which seems logical to me.

| #5NozareemMar 10, 2015 16:48:50 | I understand that I don't have to play that race, but I was intending to do so before they kneecapped per say the Genasi as race. I feel since this is a freebee for the AL community there was little effort put into it since it was not a purchase product, unlike in 4th where the race was in the players guide to FR and a purchase product. This means they had to put in effort because there selling it not giving it away. Maybe next time before kneecapping a race in D&D that is in this case in forgotten realms they should do as they did for the Monster Manual, and go to the community to see how we the purchasers of D&D products would like to see our PC races look and feel before presenting them to be played. |
| #6SkerritMar 10, 2015 16:46:35 | It's not a freebie solely for the DnDAL community. Its posted for everyone to get a taste of the rules in PotA adventure appendices so others might buy it. |

| #8UndrhilMar 10, 2015 16:49:17 | Yeah, I was thinking that the Player's Companion is basically "Appendix A", whereas "Appendix B" will be magic items, but I am hoping for some background features relating to Elemental Evil, so I'm cautiously optimistic that one of the appendices will have more than just a repeat of these races and spells.
I am upset that they have delayed posting the Encounters portion of PotA though. |
| #9NozareemMar 10, 2015 16:57:50 | Ok then about the perchase profuct, then in that case it's worse they screwed the Genasi as a race over when compared to the Genasi in 4th edtion... Hopefully they will take my advice and come to us before the do this crap again! |

| #11TyranthraxusMar 10, 2015 18:52:32 | Agreed.
Also take as much time as needed. Im only JUST up to part 2 of Lost Mine for this group. I wont even see Princes I think till late April. |
| #12NozareemMar 11, 2015 0:05:42 | Ok I was ignorant about the Companion being part of the second season campaign book my bet I take back that whole part, but I stand by the fact they screwed Genasi over by making Con their primary stat and not a subrace stat and that they took away there physical features from 4th edtion that made them look and feel distinct. |

| #14TyranthraxusMar 10, 2015 20:56:12 | Whats funny is im going to be running a home non AL game of Princes and an in store AL version. Ive also banned already the flying race from my home game version. I dislike any flying pc race immensely. |
| #15NozareemMar 11, 2015 0:12:45 | Yeah I agree that flying races can become broken in combat especially in the beginning teir mods. They don't have anything that really can deal with a character like that. I've played all the first season mods so I know. |

| #18KalaniMar 11, 2015 0:47:04 | Didn't they already delay it once (it was supposed to be released March 18th). |
| #19TyranthraxusMar 11, 2015 0:48:51 | Wait.. whoa whoa whoa.. we are allowed to Swap out weapons for Monsters? |

| #21UndrhilMar 11, 2015 1:15:43 | I don't see flying PCs as being that big of a deal. Each of the combats in the DDEX mods that I remember had ranged combatants (since my characters rarely get into melee and they were threatened quite often in those combats), unless the DM was already using DME to swap out weapons. Or he just wasn't looking at the stat blocks for the weapons the combatants had....
In fact, a flying PC is at a *huge* risk of getting an early death: take enough damage to be knocked unconscious and you fall. That falling damage will constitute a death save fail and *could* be enough to kill you outright if you are low enough level. I just don't see low level PCs flying everywhere to evade combat. I *do* see them being clever and using flight to bypass some challenges (crossing chasms, etc.) but I doubt they are strong enough to carry all the other PCs over as well.
This sounds like some one just said "I don't feel like trying to figure out if flying is good or bad. We said it was bad before, so we'll just stick with that and to heck with the PCs who want at-will fly speeds." |

|
| #23NozareemMar 11, 2015 1:21:35 | In the low tier mods like DDEX1-1 up to about DDEX1-8? the DMs did not swap weapons so in those case it would have been broken for flying PC to reck the mod unless we were in a in closed area then that would not have been a problem. But we will see what next season bring with the new races. |

| #26Knight_MarshalMar 11, 2015 14:43:43 | I noticed in the Al pdf that Harpers can gain advantage in exonerating you or party members for using restricted magic in Mulmaster.
What restricted magic?
I have found no mention of it yet and I am pretty sure that is info the players will need before chosing a class especially in a city devoted to the evil deities. |
