In the AMA on Reddit, Mearls indicated new classes and races would be tied to settings.

He didn't confirm we'd be getting a setting book next year, but I'd be very surprsied if we didn't. No indication in any way what the setting would be.

He did however say that they did already do up the warforged and the kender, so if they do books for those settings, those races would certainly appear. Its also possible they might be previewed in some way on the WOTC website.

These are the first two releases from the Elemental Evil story arc (the Adventurer's Handbook description mentions new races):

Adventurer's Handbook (March 17, 2015; hardcover; $39.95) -- A Dungeons & Dragons Accessory.

Create Heroic Characters to Conquer the Elements in this Accessory for the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game

Not inherently evil, elemental power can be mastered by those with both malevolent and benign intentions. The Elemental Evil Adventurer’s Handbook provides everything that players need to build a character that is tied directly into the Elemental Evil story arc, with skills, abilities, and spells meant to augment their play experience throughout the campaign. Additionally, valuable background and story information provides greater depth and immersion.

An accessory that expands the number of options available for character creation for the Elemental Evil story arc, providing expanded backgrounds, class builds, and races meant specifically for this campaign.

Provides background and setting information critical to having the greatest chance of success.

Princes of the Apolcalypse (March 17, 2015; hardcover; $49.95) -- A Dungeons & Dragons Adventure.

Abolish an Ancient Evil Threatening Devastation in this Adventure for the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game

Called by the Elder Elemental Eye to serve, four corrupt prophets have risen from the depths of anonymity to claim mighty weapons with direct links to the power of the elemental princes. Each of these prophets has assembled a cadre of cultists and creatures to serve them in the construction of four elemental temples of lethal design. It is up to adventurers from heroic factions such as the Emerald Enclave and the Order of the Gauntlet to discover where the true power of each prophet lay, and dismantle it before it comes boiling up to obliterate the Realms.

A super-adventure for the Elemental Evil story arc, Princes of the Apocalypse provides everything a Dungeon Master needs to create an exciting and memorable play experience.

Fans of the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Roleplaying Game can get a sample of what this product has in store for them through the D&D Encounters(TM) in-store play program.

Note that, unless new races are added to the Basic Rules, allowed by special certificate, or the Adventurers League Player's Guide is edited to allow it, any races added to the game via the DMG or some other sourcebook would not be legal for a Tyranny of Dragons storyline character, even via retraining.

It seems pretty much a given that material in the Adventurer's Handbook will be AL-legal for the Elemental Evil storyline, though.

Its my understanding that most new content will be coming out in junction with campaign settings, both in and out of orginized play.

You realize that AL is in the Forgotten Realms, right?  I don't think they will ever allow Kender or Warforged in Adventure League.  Oh, it might be added to the main rules, but I highly doubt it would ever be allowed in FR.  I think it would be quite stupid.  Keep the world specific races in those respected game worlds.

Its possible but I think pretty.. unlikely. I think 2016 might be the earliest we could expect a non FR organised play AL.

I think there's a specific reason they called it Adventure League rather than Living Forgotten Realms or something similar.

So, it looks like the DMG has the Aasimar and the Eladrin detailed out. Please Oh Please Adventure league gods will you post something that says those races are allowed?
