Just got back from Winter Fantasy, while I was there DMs told me that WoTC said that starting in the next season possibly at Origens the first set of Faction Only mods will be introduced.  Thoughts?

I need more information that would you have provided. What is a mod? Are you talking about a Scenario?

"Module," or "mod" for short is the old-fashioned word for an adventure. For instance, Steading of the Hill Giant Chief was module S1 from TSR back in the day.

ahh I see. Im now used to calling Expeditions adventures Scenarios because in that mind if differentiates it from the Hoard of the Dragon Queen Module.

Faction-only adventures? Or faction-only missions within an adventure?

The latter have been talked about and are expected, the former I am doubtful of.

I would expect that all characters could play a faction special mission (as they can with the current one), but of course it only counts as "special" for one faction.

Are there any more special missions premiering soon (a la Origins)? As more Tier 2 (level 5-10) adventures come out, more PCs will gain the level and renown required to move up in their faction standings.

While we're asking impossible questions, is there an expected time frame for the next revision of the AL player's guide? (Oh, and can I have a pony? Please?)

There are special missions scattered throughout the tier 2 (5-10) adventures released so far. The PG is going to be updated with the new season. No, you may not have a pony unless you pay for it.

From what I was told directly that the mod's made exclusively special for,  Zent, Harpes, order of the Guantlet ect, will start next season because most players  would have done the secret quest to get them to rank 3 of there organization so the will be able to play the special mods made for there factions.  That is what I was told. So unlike LFR with the special mods these will be true to being specials .

Nazareem,

I'm guessing the person who told you this info was confused or you possibly misunderstood what that person said. Sounds to me like what's being addressed is the lack of 'special mission' material in the Season 1 mods, and simply confirming (as Skerrit notes above) that more 'special missions' will be available in the Elemental Evil mods. All characters can play the mod and even participate in the 'special mission', but only members of the specific faction offering the 'special mission' will get the special mission reward.

Just to note, Skerrit is probably a more authoritative source than whoever you heard that from.

Can my paladin use Find Steed to summon a pony?

A related question. Level 2 in the factions says that you can be assigned to mentor a newer faction member. Is there an actual mechanic for this, i.e., is this something that happens in an adventure? If so, how does it work?

At the second level of faction membership you can be assigned TO a higher level mentor. You have to be at the 4th faction level to mentor a newer character. To achieve the fourth rank in your faction you must be at least 11th level and have completed 3 secret missions for your faction. To date, no faction has had more than one secret mission publicly released, and there are no adventures publicly released for 11th level characters.

There's currently no mechanic for mentoring. These rules are supposed to be released in the next update to the Player's Guide, which should be out within a month or so.

Also keep in mind that as the newbie being mentored, you are likely to hear your mentor tell you to go have side-adventures.

I don't know the AL Organizers' minds, but a set of Faction-only mods run at Conventions could be neat.  Of course, if not enough tickets are sold for the table the Players will have to know ahead of time that the Table has been cancelled.
