#1 Nevvur Mar 05, 2015 16:41:44	Briefly, a new player at my Encounters table wants to play a 7'10" Tiefling. Please advise.   My thoughts on the matter... I'm not sure AL allows for players to be Large size creatures (aside from the temporary Enlarge spell) to begin with. For his first session, I said he could be however tall he likes, but I'd still be treating him as a medium sized creature. For comparison, a half-ogre reaches around 8 feet, and is considered a large sized bipedal creature. Next session, I intend to persuade him to reduce his height, but I won't force it if he's determined.    A note, he's new to the game. I wouldn't have a problem with his choice of height in a home game, and I would treat him as a large sized creature with all the perks and penalties associated with it. However, the question is specifically directed at public play.

#4 Kalani Mar 05, 2015 17:35:41	Not necessarily. There is considerable room for variation within a size category. The orog Orc is bordering on large (by height) but still counts as medium.

#12 Pauper Mar 18, 2015 7:04:16	Note that the Powerful Build feature in 5th Edition does not allow a goliath to wield an oversized weapon; only to treat itself as Large for the purpose of determining its carrying capacity and its push/pull/drag weight limit.   This by itself is likely going to dissuade a number of folks who might have been interested in a goliath PC.   -- Pauper
