As the title states this thread is purely so people can post their Season 3 (Rage of Demons) Character concepts.  What are you building for a new level 1 character for season 3? Are you making seperate characters for both Encounters and Expedtions?

Please do not reply to other peoples characters, this is just here so each and every person can post their characters they are making for the new season!

Ill start

Name: Brother Zephaniah

Race: Human

Class: Cleric (Leira Trickery) 2/ Rogue 2 (have DM exp been accruing)

A Rogue who 'found religon' in Amn , Mistcaller Zephaniah made his way to Hillsfar using his natural charisma and skills of larceny to make his trip a more pleasurable one. He found Hillsfar bery black and white. You were either Human or Not, you were either allowed in or not.  Knowing in his heart that if ever there was a need for deception and misdirection it is now, Zephaniah spends his time helping Demihumans eke out a secret existence in Hillsfar. Zephaniah also has been working on his many stories as to why he is in Hillsfar and prefers to lie when someone asks him a straight question.

Right now I have two concepts.

Race: Drow

Class: Ranger 3/Rogue 1

             Warlock 2/Rogue 2

I am leaning towards the ranger/rogue as when it hits 4th it will be able to do 1D8(rapier) +1d8(CS)+1d6(HM)+1d6(SA)+5 damage on most attacks.

I have quite a few ideas kicking around in my head:

Order of the Gauntlet

Paladin (Devotion)/Cleric (War), Acolyte of Torm or Bahamut

Zhentarim

Cleric (Trickery) of Shar/Rogue, Shade Fanatic

Harpers

Drow Barbarian (Totem)/Paladin (Ancients), Acolyte of Eilistraee (Not strictly legal, currently, unless the full App. A includes a full Drow/Elf pantheon)

Cleric (Knowledge) of Mystra/Wizard, Sage

Emerald Enclave

Druid (Land)/Wizard (Divination), Caravan Specialist

Ranger (Archer Beastmaster (Flying Snake)) with Owl familiar, Outlander

Paladin (Ancients)/Warlock (Archfey), Cormanthor Refugee

Barbarian (Totem)/Ranger (Hunter, Two-weapon), Any background

Lords’ Alliance

Cleric (Light) of Sune/Bard (Lore), Entertainer

Fighter (Battlemaster)/Bard (Lore), Soldier

Paladin (Devotion) of Tymora, Trade Sherrif

Opie is a brutish and disfigured human male who was the son of a noble lord.  The lord sold him into slavery and his master (retainer) is a former adventurer who is past his prime but looking to live vicariously through this young strong man.  Together with his wife and butler, the master follows Opie around as he adventures.  The master and his wife berate and laugh at him at every opportunity.

I don't know if most DMs will allow it, but my plan is to play the master retainer as my character and have the DM control Opie's actions. (I'll still roll and level Opie up, but I will only be in direct control of the retainer).  The master will tell Opie what to do, but Opie, though not very bright and incredibly weak willed, can act on his own at times.

The only problems I see is the weakness of retainers and AOE.  This concept would no longer be fun to play without the master trying to control Opie's actions.  If the master died because of AOE, I'd have to either ditch the character, or say the slave was willed to another master.

Earthspur Miner, Fighter, Goliath, Emerald Enclave.

I more or less took the Goliath Adept of Tempus sample character and rebuilt him into a hardcore miner.

He starts with no gold, but he has an axe, pick and a hammer as starting weapons. As well as that piece of coal that looks like a diamond to him and only him. When he picks up Battlemaster at level 3 he will also be a skilled mason.

He lost his tribe to stone giants and instead of living off the land with no tribe, he started answering his "stone dreams" unknown to him but sent by Grumbar. (Yeah I know you cant worship Grumbar, so I just leave it blank on the sheet. Not that 99% of people even care.) He began mining for gems with dwarves in the earthspurs, even befriending the reclusive Lundwakazar clan. At this point he's a gigantic dwarf wannabe and even speaks the language along with undercommon. He has a real california brah accent to him though. "errrr---sword coast mariner accent...? ;)" and he's always in a good mood, and laughing.

More or less a mercenary for hire, he's looking to see if he can make a profit in Hillsfar by delving into the underdark and it's supposed problems. -Hopefully the tunnels dug are dug large enough, because he's eight feet tall, maybe even more with a helmet. Average ceilings in PotA were around 10 feet, but that's hardly enough height to swing a weapon overhead. Good thing he has a bunch of mining tools!

Argent is an Aasimar Paladin that was originally residing in the House of the Triad in Celestia as a meager follow and acolyte.

Much as demons do, a raiding party broke into Celestia and "acquired" a number of slaves, myself being one. Argent spent the last 2 years in the underdark as a slave and was recently sold to Graz'zt. After numerous attempts to convert Argent and generating some permanent degrees of depravity, he was freed by a group of adventurers raiding deep into the underdark. They conveyed him to the surface and left him with the elves of Elventree not far from Hillsfar.

Now freed and allowed to refocus, this Paladin has sworn vengence on Graz'zt and the demons in the area.

Race: Aasimar

Class: Paladin (ultimately vengence oath)

Background: Acolyte

Faction: Undecided but will probably join the Order of the Gauntlet

certs: Gencon Blood of Angels / Ex-Thrall of Graz'zt

I'm working in a drow necromancer, chaotic nuetural, secret identity with very loose affiliation only due to special trade with the Lords Alliance. It is a stretch because of only being only a Int 15, but latter it work out.

So he's from Menzoberranzan of the house Barrison Del'Armgo the second ranked house.  He's also a member of the Council of Spiders.   He is in search of the lost legendary cidadel of the Undying.

His interst in the RoD is the rumors of Orcus in the Underdark that could provide him with oppertunities of some sort due to him being the demon prince of undeath.

Though I'm DMing, mine will be a variant Human Monk. Maybe Acolyte background. The kids were really mean at the monestary and they never really fit in. So when the shadows literally called to them, they were seduced and left. The have been the friend and lover the character never thought they'd have. They've shared their secrets, and promise even greater power and pleasure. They'll start with the Skulker feat. At 2nd level, the shadows will reveal magic in the form of a Fiend Warlock pact (though the character doesn't know this). At 3rd, the pact will give them the ability to see in the dark and weave a shadowy veil of protection around themselves (either Armor of Shadows or Fiendish Vigor). Maybe back to Monk, or stick with Warlock for Pact of the Blade. Ultimately a Shadow Monk 6/Fiend Warlock 5 would give the bad ass abilities they'd want (Shadow Step and One With Shadows invocation).

Though the character knows it not, their pact will hopefully be reviled to be with Graz'zt, the Dark Prince himself!

Carric Losangledun, human fighter-wizard from Hillsfar, smuggler background. Starting as a smart fighter with a touch of magic (Magic Initiate feat), then wizard the rest of the way.

Carric was fascinated with magic at a young age. He also seemed to have a touch of magic; his parents said he must be blessed by the gods (magic initiate feat - bless, guidance, light). Business took Carric's family outside of Hillsfar regularly. In Elventree he began to study with an elven mage, but this was short-lived when the Great Law of Humanity was re-instated. But Carric was hooked, and continued to be curious about elves and their magical traditions. He soon became adept at sneaking in and out of Hillsfar unnoticed, and met others who also had interests outside the city. But his blessed luck ran out one evening - a Red Plume stumbled upon him sneaking back into Hillsfar, with a bundle of halfling pipe-weed under his cloak. He was whipped for the offense, and given a brand on his right arm. He was told a 2nd offense would be much worse. He still maintains contacts with non-humans and non-human sympathizers, but is cautious in public, especially when Red Plumes or their informers might be around.

His favorite things include talking magic with elves, drinking with dwarves, and dining with halflings.

[Should see action this weekend at Gateway Con in LA! I also have a 3rd level sorcerer from Red Larch that may migrate over to Hillsfar to meet some demons.]

My current concept is a drow monk who was training to be a cleric of Lolth before the fire giants took over Maerimydra and Szith Morcane, and had to toughen up on her own. She's a Revanchist of a noble house and "Lawful Good", but lawful good in Drow culture—so, you know, killing the weak, backstabbing and betrayal aren't evil acts, but a good part of the natural order of societies. I like the idea of running around imperiously calling people "Male" as if it were an insult. I'll probably use the one of the subsitute background features from OotA, although I haven't decided which.

Lawful good human warlock trade sheriff. Use prestidigitation to produce rolling tumbleweeds and western theme music. Pretend his hands are revolvers and fire eldritch blasts while fanning his thumb.

Excuse me, this is not a thread to discuss alignment or someones interpretation of alignment. PLEASE post your characters you are building for season 3 only.

Evil characters are not allowed in AL, with one specific exception - which is hedged about to prevent abuse.

Destroying the fun for other players - for instance by killing their characters - is definitely Evil.

So the PC who tries to "cull the weak" (read: kill the other PC charactrers) is not AL-legal.

'Nuff said.

A drow elf that defies the stereotypes....he fights for truth and justice.  He has unshakeable faith...but not in Lloth!  He will defeat the evil demons, and he fights with a fierce feline friend by his side at all times.

Isn't it obvious.....It's

Two character concepts for Season 3 at the moment.

Rock Gnome Eldritch Knight who will have a music box playing his "theme song" during combats.  He's a Discredited Academic from Mulmaster, but has found his way to the Hillsfar area in search of the answer to his one question (the cause of his being discredited in the first place): "Do like energies augment each other?"

Human Life Cleric of Savras / Ranger.  I'm going to play him similar to Mad-Eye Moody from the Harry Potter books.  "CONSTANT VIGILENCE!", "Eat this berry; you'll feel better." etc.

I started OotA with a Gold Dwarf Ranger, Outlander background, with Humanoids (Drow and Qaggoth) as favored enemies, and the Underdark as favored terrain. Emerald Enclave faction.

For Expeditions, I have played 3-1 and 3-2 with a Drow Bard with the criminal (spy) background. Working for the Harpers, of course.

I will probably keep them through the season on their separate paths, the Ranger in the encounter book, and the Bard doing Expeditions when I get the chance to play them. Opportunities for Expeditions do not seem to be as forthcoming as the weekly encounters, however. I usually have to wait for gaming conventions to play them. For example, I still have played only a handful of the 2nd season Expeditions.

Thanks!

Before I started play in Season 3, I had a few characters ready for it:  a human Warlock, a thief working towards Arcane Trickster, and a human dual battle axe wielding fighter (dual wielder feat).  But, with the ominous tone of the Underdark and the Abyss and everything so dark and serious, none of them hit me quite right.  Then, the night before play, it struck me.  Hagador "The Cross-Dressing Half-Orc!"  Hagador is a burly, 6'4" Half-Orc raging Barbarian/Bard who wants to sing, dance, and "feel pretty."  The first night of play was hillarious!  Everyone stripped of all equipment and imprisoned, Hagador in his torn dress trying to "sneak" into position with one of the guards, and then charging with a cry of, "Now Girls!"  Everyone was rolling.  I can't wait for Wednesday!

Hagador says, "Don't be a hater.  I rock this look!"
