Questions about Paperwork and Gameplay

Hey all,

I have some questions to run past people that involves more the logistics of running sessions then gameplay:

  1. We are about 2/3 way through the Lost Mines of Phandelver (LMoP) adventure in the Starter Box and the question of rewarding downtime came up.  In LMoP, what qualifies as an episode for Downtime Rewards in AL?
  2. I have been filling out the DM log sheet to record our player’s interaction and I was talking to the store we are playing in about their online registries.  Do I need the sheets after the store logs in the players?
  3. If I wanted to supply new players with more Lv. 1 Pre-gens other then what is in the Starter Box.  Is there an official site with PDFs of Pre-gen character sheets that are AL legal?
  4. What is the relationship between AL and Open Play?  The reason I ask is that my players have made it clear that they want to continue with the campaign after we are done with LMoP instead of playing the Expedition Adventures, or at least want the freedom to do both (Because of my schedule, Encounters is out for me being the DM or playing).  I figured I would roll into the Horde of the Dragon Queen as the adventure backdrop while they continued with their character’s plans.  They are also interested in working with Factions and even possibly create their own as a possible subset of one of the standard ones in AL, gaining renown and having the option of gaining Faction specific adventures as they move up through the ranks.  I am not sure what the best course of option to get the best bang for their buck and was looking for some insight.

I would appreciate the help.

Welcome

A) Each part (as layed out in Lost Mine) counts as a section/episode.There are 4 episodes, so pcs can get from level 1 start to level 5 at the very end.

B) You do not need the sheets back, unless you want records of games you have run. THe details are put into the WER and sent in as a casual game.

C) No there is not. There was a good compilation of pregen characters made in the Adventurers League forum a while back but I can no longer find it. Be careful however as some of the pregens I grabbed were not AL legal (stats were too high etc)

D) You have the Hoard of the Dragon Queen  and Expeditions to play with.  Lets say we use your current crop as an example. Being level 5, their choices as I type for expedtions are limited. Tyranny in Phlan is the only 5-10 tier Expedtions scenario (more are released in March). Next season will of course have more (how much more I dont know).

My issue locally is that I only run Expedtions (thus not Hoard), so Im just trying to expand the expeditions 'brand'. Ive got a handful of people hitting 4, then spending the downtime to hit 5.

You cannot create new factions for AL. If you do, then you are not playing an AL game anymore. Remember players dont HAVE to pick a faction, their characters can be factionless.

re: 3)

The thread "Pre-Generated Character Repository" is in the Player Help section of the forums.  Many - but not all - of the characters listed have been reviewed for AL-legal (or not) status.  The posts are not PDFs but you can copy down everything important.

I would recommend you build the character "from scratch" to double-check everything.

The lead-off post has been edited and updated so you can click on interesting character names and go directly to the character.

Alas I could not get my reference to also be a direct link.

Alright, I think I am just blind or I am looking in the wrong spot.  I have been checking out the AL organizer’s website to get the answers to my paperwork logistic questions so I don’t have to bug folks for every little question.  This is the site I have been looking at:

http://dndadventurersleague.org/

I am still not seeing anything on how the paperwork is handled, especially with regards to how players get credit for their experience and magic items on their log sheets.  So far we have just been filling them out and I have three players who after the next game will be joining one of the Factions.  I know that the Factions have welcome packs for the players and when I asked my store about them, they made it clear that they don’t have the answers to many of my questions and told me to check the forums.

So am I looking on the wrong website?????
