| #1TyranthraxusApr 21, 2015 0:11:25 | Religons in Mulmaster:
Whilst the admins are due to release a Overview article on Mulmaster soon (as well as a new map apparently), I thought Id address the main faiths that exist in Mulmaster (We actually get some variety of sorts!)
Ill look at them one at a time starting with Bane (probably the biggest Faith in Mulmaster)
*********
Bane LE God of Tyranny
Bane was originally a mortal who after challenging Jergal got first choice of portfolio after he had beaten Jergal. Bane's faith has undergone a lot of changes, his faith going from one that rewarded those who used violence to claim position to a faith where advanced is done more out of the limelight.
Bane was 'killed' in the Time of Troubles event, but had actually forseen this event and used his Demigod son , Iyachtu Xvim to be reborn.
The Black Altar, the foremost holiest of places for the Church of Bane is found in Mulmaster.

| #2SkerritApr 21, 2015 6:48:17 | Expect to see these in modern day Mulmaster (pulled from the upcoming blog post): Temples
Shrines
|
| #3KalaniApr 21, 2015 7:33:28 | Embers of Elmwood (DDEX2-2) also details an exceptionally small hospital run by clerics of Illmatar (iirc) -although I forget the name of it.
The buildings dimensions are impossibly small however (the clerics dorms are 5' squares shared by two), and the entire building is only 30' long (if memory serves) |
| #4SkerritApr 21, 2015 7:46:25 | True, but the hospise is staffed by Illmatari out of the Monastary of the Yellow Rose, its not a shrine or temple. |
| #5KalaniApr 21, 2015 7:57:16 | I wasn't aware of that detail (not a major realms buff). All I remembered was seeing the hospice. Figured the clerics had to come from somewhere so I mentioned it in case it was forgotten
How far from Mulmaster is the monestary? |
| #6PauperApr 21, 2015 8:37:07 | Quite far -- it's located in an arm of the Earthspur Mountains separated from Mulmaster by the Glacier of the White Worm (as of 3E Forgotten Realms).
The geography of the Realms may have changed somewhat since then, but unless the monastery has actually moved, it's not unreasonable for the hospice to have cells for the visiting monks and clerics to sleep in, as the journey though the mountains would be neither quick nor easy (which would suit the Ilmatari just fine, of course).

| #8KalaniApr 21, 2015 8:56:44 | Hospice = hospital (in pseudo-medieval terms). By todays standards, there is a major difference between them - but back then, not so much.
And yes, it was the House of Suffering I was thinking of (I was away from my expeditions at the time and couldn't recall its name).
Still, it is theoretically feasable for an acolyte of Illmater to gain spellcasting services from their breatheren at the House of Suffering (even though no actual temple/shrine exists).
Do we have an official stance on whether Acolytes of Illmater could use their background feature at the house of suffering? Non-realms savvy DMs may mistake the Hospice for a temple (or believe it is attached to a nearby one), so there is likely to be some table variation about this regardless. I know I considered it a pseudo-temple/hospice combined prior to Skerrits comment.

| #9PauperApr 21, 2015 9:09:32 | Since most of the residents of the Monastery of the Yellow Rose are monks rather than clerics, I'd suspect that most of the Ilmatari who serve at the House of Suffering don't have spellcasting ability (apart from some few who might be high enough level in the Way of the Four Elements to have some ki-derived spellcasting, though none of those spells are on the list of spellcasting services).
It should be noted that the monks of the Monastery of the Yellow Rose are noted in the Player's Handbook -- they're the Disciples of Saint Sollars the Twice-Martyred. (Monastic Orders sidebar, PH, p.81)
Again, if this has changed from prior FR sources, it should be noted by the admins.

| #10KalaniApr 21, 2015 9:11:16 | Good to know. Thanks for the update - as I said, not realms-savvy (I am an expert on Krynn however - owning most of the Krynn sourcebooks from all editions, and have read over half of the 170 odd novels). |

From what I hear - the realms is a little harder to become an expert on. Most of Dragonlance occurs in a relatively small region in comparison.
Ansalon end to end is probably as large as western and central Faerun, and it only has one religion and 24 gods to speak of (21 main gods, Mina, Chaos and the High God).
There is also a fractional number of "organizations", and major settlements. So yeah, much easier to familiarize oneself with Krynn. |

| #16TyranthraxusApr 21, 2015 17:58:48 | Question:
I was going to go over Savras next? (Hes not a particuarly well known God) but the write up in in the early Expeditions for Season 2 lists him with a temple present in Mulmaster.
Faiths that can call upon spellcasting services in Mulmaster include the following: Bane, Leira, Loviatar, Mystra, Savras, Tempus, Tymora, Velsharoon, and Waukeen.
Ive noticed that neither Leira (who would probably not have a Temple everyone would know about) or Savras are on that list of yours , Skerrit. |
| #17SkerritApr 21, 2015 18:16:09 | The Tower of Mysteries serves those who worship Leira, Velsharoon, Savras, and Mystra. Same place. |
| #18TyranthraxusApr 21, 2015 19:27:22 | Excellent. |

| #20SpedGuyApr 22, 2015 18:29:32 | I was so happy to see Waukeen on that list. My favorite 2e character was a Goldeneye, and this gave me a chance to dust her off for a new edition incarnation. Of course, I'm not an acolyte so it won't matter much mechanically but... |

| #23TyranthraxusApr 22, 2015 21:19:12 | Im glad that Leira is back unmurdered by Cyric + Mask. Mulmaster has need of some mystery. |

| #26SkerritApr 23, 2015 11:17:03 | Tower of Mysteries and Tower of Arcane might are part of the same complex (just different towers). I'll spell it out more in the write-up. I did mean Velsharoon. Not all the FR deities are in the PHB, but I have been told by WOTC that Velsharoon's shrine is indeed there. |

| #29AinulindalionApr 23, 2015 14:24:58 | I remember reading something about Azuth's divine essense going into Asmodeus when Mystra was 'killed' to cause the Spellplague. (All the gods of magic broke with her death) But I may be misremembering. |
| #30SkerritApr 23, 2015 15:16:35 |
|
| #31AinulindalionApr 23, 2015 16:05:15 | Also, Life Domain as the only option for the Maiden of Pain? Isn't there something we can do about this?
And don't say run an Epic at a major convention to get Death Domain access, cause that's really limited, assuming that it's even granted for other ones since last year's GenCon. |
| #32SkerritApr 23, 2015 16:17:38 | The optional Death domain from the DMG is only allowed for those with the special certificate, so until WOTC releases some sort of update book that gives more info on FR gods, and if it gives her additional domains, there is nothing to do. The Admins are not allowed to invent new rules except in situations required for the nature of OP. In this case the lack of Lovitar's domains is sort of the quetion that would need to be remedied by WOTC itself.

Say i had a LE Cleric of Auril who openly worshiped her and she walked past Talos' or Malar's Shrine? Would she be mocked or hailed as a friend? |

| #41TyranthraxusApr 27, 2015 18:40:59 | I wouldnt ever expect friendship from a Talos Priest anyway. Generally they are loner types who are in the town square crying out about the 'Destruction' coming to all unbelievers and the like. They generally dont get on well with .. anybody.
Its interesting in this case his .. rival , Savras gets his own temple. Savras and Azuth were at one point rivals battling it out to become the God of Wizards until Savras slipped up and was trapped in a magic item. Free now by the looks of it. |

|
| #43TyranthraxusApr 27, 2015 23:51:38 | Yeah. I read a bit more and it said he was released. Either way its good to see Savras has one over Azuth. Maybe its the City of Mulmaster who want to know what their enemies have planned by placating the God of Divination magic. |
