Lots of interesting adventures in that link that I hadn't noticed before now.
I had thought about starting a gaming group at school last year. Now that I've got a better handle on the Adventurer's League stuff, I'm starting to get an itch to DM some Expeditions. I also noticed in the link above that the adventures are already set to go in about 3 weeks!
I noticed that home play is not supported at this time, but I'm pretty sure I could run some public venue stuff once a week if I could get organized in time. I think I would have to get my FLGS to sponser me if I wanted to organize a school gaming group and then get the materials.
I'm not entirely sure on how this all works, but I do know that Encounters on Wed nights are out for me, as well as Epics since I don't go to gaming conventions (yet). So that leaves the Expeditions which fit perfectly as something I can run. Now I just need to figure out exactly what to do to get the process rolling. Any suggestions?
[edit1] After further review, it looks like a gaming club sponsered through my FLGS is my only option for Expeditions until home/online play is supported. I hope this is something my FLGS might be willing to support. A final option in the link below says I can create a support ticket and perhaps go through an alternative route. I also read that more info is being released this summer as well... Looks like we will be redoing our character sheets from standard to AL ones.

[edit2] Looks like want I want to do is run a public game day for a school gaming club. Some instructions should be forthcoming. I'll check with my FLGS and see what they know about Expeditions, as I seem to have mined what there is to find on the wotc sites now with this last link:

| #2AriKanenJul 30, 2014 22:59:29 | From my understanding Encounters is just Tyranny of Dragons, but the first few chapters that were released to FLGs as PDFs for DMs. Once the module comes out anyone can run the same scenarios at home, and players in that campaign can still take their characters to conventions and stores.
What I've deduced about Expeditions is that these will also be released to FLGs after they appear at conventions, and so if you run a game there, you can probably get a copy that way, and run it at home if you want. Players that play that will still be able to take their characters elsewhere.
It appears that if you they use point buy or the array and fill out there adventure logs, after running one of (or part of) a sanctioned module, players can take there characters to other AL games, and won't need a DCI number until they try to use that character at a FLGs game or at a convention.

I'll have to call, but will likely drive in person to have a chat with the nearest FLGS about Expeditions. I would really like to start DMing something local and public. I am going to purchase the Tyranny of Dragons adventures when they come out, but I'd like to run the Expeditions in addition to those. Worse case scenario is I just run the published things at home. I guess the point of this thread is more just me figuring out how to get organized. |
| #4nighthawkauAug 01, 2014 7:06:10 | You don't need to be associated with a store to run Expeditions, you just don't get access to certain benefits, namely certed magic items. Any game club open to the public can order and run Expedition modules. |

I'll see if my local store will let me piggy back through them (next week I think) before attempting to go solo. Shame I don't have a FLGS in my county, I need all the help I can get LOL. I'll get it figured out once I get back in town, as I'm going on vacation. Thanks for the responses everyone. |

I'd love to be able to participate in these but it's just not an option which means missing out on a third of the AL content. |
