| #1BeepharoniAug 29, 2014 20:12:28 | Greetings adventurers.
I and a few friends of mine from various parts of the world, were interested in starting up a weekly DND game online (as we all live in scattered places and can not get together in person for a weekly game). None of us are experienced enough to be the DM.
This is where I take to the community, in hopes I can find someone who loves to DM and knows the game well enough that they could guide my rag tag group of adventurers through a campaign. Help us where we have questions or simply do not know something, and be patient enough as we grow and learn as players.
I had never played DND before gen con 2014, but I have found it to be very enjoyable, and would love to have an opportunity to play more (as my friends who live near me aren't very interested in playing or learning the game at all). So if I could somehow come into contact with someone who would be realiable enough to DM a weekly game, that would make my friends and I very happy.
My understanding is that Google Hangouts has a plug in that can be used in order to manage the actual gameplay, but there are other programs which can be used as well.. Worst case scenario I have a mumble server which can be used for voice chat as we play through the campaign.
pelease do not hesitate to comment here if you know someone who would be interested in DM'ing or if you yourself are that person.
OR if I posted this in the wrong place, I apologize and will repost it in the correct place.
Thank you !

| #3PholanAug 30, 2014 7:45:54 | Hey, I'm actually looking for a group so I could play a weekly game. I've been playing for 16 years as a player and as a DM. Recently bought the 5e PHB and ready the basic rules and league rules at the moment.
If you're interessted let me know.

I've picked up several games this way. |

For years I never DMd, even though I've always wanted to (heck, until recently I haven't played a lot of D&D in general, even though I started way back with Moldvay Basic)...always afriad people would think I was terrible. Recently, with some encouragement from my friends, I've done it a bit with them over Skype, and it's all good! I always think I could do better, but my friends are having a blast, and don't notice any large problems, so, "What, me worry?"
Sure at times you'll not know a rule or have to think up something as a response to an unexpected action, but if it's going to take too long to research down what the "correct" response is, just make it up based on what you know. After the game you can always do research, and bam, then you know for the next time.
The key, which I never grasped back when I was a kid in the 80s, is to accept the fact that you cannot know everything the players will do, and be confident that you CAN successfully make up responses to their actions on the fly, and they will never know. For example, this weekend they had just killed some monsters and searched their bodies, but the adventure didn't say if the monsters had anything. I felt they deserved something for wanting to search, so I thought for a moment, then simply rolled a d6 for each monster, and said they found that many gold pieces. They were happy with the reward, and I was happy I thought on my feet successfully.
Trust me...one of your group can do it (since you're the outgoing one who posted, and saw some DMs run a game at Gen Con and thus now have an idea of how it's done, I think it should be you!
