Still confused about home play

Can anyone in the know, help me understand how I organize an Encounters event online (like on roll20)?  I don't have a FLGs in my area, but I've been involved with GMing Pathfinder Society for some time, and I have a lot of players, that also don't have FLG stores or are disabled, that would like for me to be able to organize games online that are compatible with larger OP universe in case they find another DM.

I've read that reporting is not necessary, so does that I mean players can write whatever they want on their character sheet and be able to take that same character to a game store and use that character in an in-store event?

So if I run Lost Mines with a bunch of folks online, and they get to level 3 they can use that same character at a convention and the DM doesn't need to officially report that anywhere?

Correct, but they will need properly filled logsheets.

The store version of Encounters is the same adventure as the published adventure, but WOTC provides a copy of the first part of the adventure for free to the store (along with the kit that includes the certs, etc...)

Hey guys,

What I want to know is can Expeditions be run at home or online? Also, can they be run on day of the week at the game store? Finally, will they be available August 1st or not until after Gen Con?

Check out the post from last weekend at dndadventurersleague.org -- basically, 'home play' for the Tyranny of Dragons 'season' consists of anything published by WotC within the Tyranny of Dragons storyline. All you need to do is have players log the details of their adventuring (and abide by any Adventurers League-specific rulings that would apply to your table, such as character creation guidelines) and their characters are legal for Adventurers League play at conventions or other public play events.

So your home game would consist of Hoard of the Dragon Queen (starting after GenCon), then the Rise of Tiamat in late October. If you didn't want to wait until GenCon, you could pick up the Starter Set and run Lost Mine of Phandelver, which is also home-play legal, though not really connected to the Tyranny of Dragons storyline.

I'm a little dubious of the 'if it's published by WotC, it's compatible with Adventurers League' mentality, but at least from an adventure standpoint, it should work out fairly well.
