Using Hoard of the Dragon Queen in Organized Play?

So I tried emailing my regional coordinator, but the email address on the site is invalid, so I thought I'd post here.

 

I'm a volunteer DM at a local gaming store. I have purchased the Tyranny of Dragons: Horde of the Dragon Queen, and I'm running a group through the campaign.

Did your store get you the free pack for the adventure? It has all the guidelines you need in it. Also, please let us know which email isn't working so we can update the website ASAP.

No they didn't get an adventure pack, but I will request that they do.

 

But what about home play? If I were running HotDQ at home, how would I know how to properly reward the characters?

 

And it looks like the email failure was operator error. I made a typo.

Each episode will likely take many sessions to complete. We're looking at four weeks at our FLGS just for episode 1.

 

As for treasure, any treasure the PCs find is stuff the bad guys have looted from Greenest. Be sure to emphasize this as some LG characters may feel funny about de facto stealing from NPCs who just lost their homes.

From pg. 11 of the Encounters PDF:

 

Stolen Treasure
The cultists and their kobold lackeys are in the midst of looting Greenest and collecting the spoils for transport back to their camp (see episode 2). Any marauding group that the party encounters has a 50 percent chance of having stolen treasure in its possession. Roll a d6 and multiply the result by 10 to determine the total value of the stolen items, in gold pieces (gp).
