I'm looking to start a southern WI female D&D league, not finding many players in my town. How to expand a fun nerdy RPG one night a week game session! Respond with ideas!

Maybe dont have it just pnp D&D. Put it out to the Boardgames too (there are quite a few D&D boardgames)

(and a D&D female league sounds interesting {mainly because ive never ever heard of a all female league before}.

Is it being run out of a store? Are we talking encounters ? Expeditions? Are your players interested in Certs? No certs? (Also how do you block out the males turning up for encounters?) You could probably advertise for players outta the stores facebook page or the regions facebook page

Sounds very interesting though. One of my fave all time groups was a Warhammer Fantasy rpg group that was me, female dm and 4 other female players. We actually got things done! .. it was awesome.

That's awesome! I love the feedback/questions. I'm thinking right now until I can start a pretty regular group, meeting up at a local shop or someone's house. I work at a game & collectibles store right now and we are starting different types of tournaments; I'm hoping to get a D&D one going soon! I would like to see it being a fairly public group (if new members want to join) all female group. Excluding males due to having a strict group for other females to feel comfortable in. Having certs would be awesome to enchance gameplay but since it's a beginning idea right now, I'll probably construct a game mat of some sort. I would like to start with Expoditions. I would advertise on FB or whatnot about it being a female group but there is no reason there can't be other games that are co-ed. For the sake of beginning with players who probably haven't played before, starting at a level 1 and of course to keep things current, starting with the 5th edition. I don't have an idea of what a max number of players would be, I guess just what I can find of who would be interested. The other thing is too, finding a good DM!

In my experience, community theater groups are a good place to find players, especially female ones, or prospective players that would have an insterest in trying. Not sure what the best way to target ads to them would be... but there's often a lot of crossover between community theater people and other nerdy pursuits (like comics, games, and renfests).

Hi Allieriot,

I'm also in WI (the south east) and would be happy to point you towards gamer groups if you are in that area. I know quite a number of female gamers in the area as well if that's what you are looking for. If you just want to meet some new folks, come to one of our local cons (http://coldiron.roseocon.net/index.php) in October and I'm happy to introduce you to people.

Hamsterkill - that's a really great idea! I will have to find some local theatres in my area. I have noticed that a lot of the theatre kids in school were also very nerdy! Should have hung out with them more haha.

Skerrit- Where in the south east area are you loacted? Is there a way to direct/private message? I would love to get to know a few other nery female gamers that my friends and I can have to play with. I'm always more than happy to meet new people in general!

I am in Lake Geneva, but I know the Milwaukee gamers best. The convention in October is in Brookfield.

I used to live in MKE awhile back. I miss being in the city. Hopefully this will give me a reason to go visit!
