#1 Tyranthraxus Feb 08, 2015 19:20:48	As someone who was not there (but who wanted to be), Im deadly curious as to how the new scenarios went (esp the Sorc Isle one and the Gold Box gamer me in me wants to know about the Pool of Radiance one). No spoilers are neccesary, Im more interested to know how well the scenarios seemed to flow, if there were memorable mpcs (more evil girl!) and just how the challenge rating is like. Im due to run Tyranny in Phlan soon and my only stipulation to the players locally is that we have a healthy table of level 5's. Id prefer information from players that were there if possible! Thanks
#2 Skerrit Feb 09, 2015 6:11:34	Tyranny in Phlan is an exceptionally challenging adventure (on purpose due to the events it covers). A healthy table is a good idea!

It was awesome. yeah I was told by a DM that some paladin got killed dead in one group our group struggled and we had 3 healers and hard hitters. The DM was awesome he really got into character for all NPC even while in combat. The first combat and last combat in that mod is where many groups could face TPKs if the part doesn't have the right mix.
#6 Nozareem Feb 09, 2015 14:53:41	I would have felt better playing that mod at level 6 or 7 a whole group of level fives will be hard if not brutal that's what we had we barely made it out of that mod without TPKing in those two combats.
#7 CahPahkah Feb 09, 2015 15:37:58	For me, the only real problem in Tyranny in Phlan is the Spoilers Flesh Golem that literally only one PC in our caster-less party could affect in any way, and that was a barbarian with a +1 longbow.
#8 Kroad Feb 09, 2015 17:00:26	Played all the tier 2 ones at winter fantasy. Started at level 5, made level 7 after the last one so advancement was actually faster than I expected. Quick overview (no spoilers, maybe a little innuendo) Tyranny in phlan: very challenging as noted above but you definately feel like you are part of the overall plot. There is substantial in-character time pressure so you get resource constrained very quickly. Not much rp, but tied for my favorite AL module with outlaws of the iron route. Pyramids of Sorcerers isle: very dungeon crawly. Didn't really feel like it had much tie to the overall storyline. Kind of dragged in the middle as multiple fights in a row had creatures with resistances or other annoying features but didn't really tie together in any consistent theme. The ending battle was with some of my favorites creatures so it was fun even though it wasn't that challenging. There are a number of things in this adventure that could result in interesting things happening to the pcs. Overall I was disappointed in this given the "epic" feel of an 8 hour slot. Raiders of the Twilight Marsh: had to split up my gaming group between tables on this one and we had very different experiences. At my table we made all the wrong choices and had a real no-nonsense DM. As a result we were unable to complete the objectives in spectacular fashion. No deaths but barely escaped with our pride. At my friends' tables, they made better choices and owned it. The adventure is very back end weighted with a spectacular finish. Pool of Radiance Resurgent: much more open ended in terms of how you accomplish the objective, but for something that invokes the pool of radiance name I felt like it didn't really deliver. We didn't really understand what happened until the DM explained it to us after the fact. The big fight was a real challenge for us as there were only 4 of us. Cleric highly recommended for this one.
