35 years of Dungeons and Dragons

Jan 02, 2009 14:22:40 Dungeons and Dragons is only 10 months and 14 days older than I (give or take a couple of hours). Although I have not updated, I wonder what Wizards have in the works to celebrate 35 years of Dungeons and Dragons gaming.

It's only been a few years since the 30th anniversary book was released (late 2004). I look for 40th anniversary celebrations in 2014.

Don't know what WotC has planned for D&D's 40th birthday, but I'm gonna game all night, drink lotsa beer and eat a ton of pizza. It's been far too long since I've indulged that kind of nonsense ;).

Oh... man... please... please don't ever mention the... procedure... ever again... I beg you...

NOTE: I am not 40. I'm 18. I don't know, maybe it gets easier as you get older.

Jan 02, 2009 19:30:23 I turned 40 two weeks ago. My D&D-playing started 30 years (and six months) ago. And my last gaming session was last Saturday (the 27th of December). God willing, I'll be saying something similar in 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, and maybe even 25, 30, and 40 years!

(P.S. The prostate exam is not as scary as we have been led to believe. Not nearly as bad as the colonoscopy!)

Jan 02, 2009 20:38:43 Hearing horror stories makes me appreciate breast exams where they squeeze your boobies flat as a pancake and twist them close to 90 degrees while telling you to hold still so the machine can get the x-ray. Egads! I thought they were gonna pop! Pap smears aren't fun, either. That region belongs to my husband and to him alone! However, any girls reading this, do NOT get your doctor laughing during the procedure. I told mine that I wasn't responsible for anything that may happen should that thing start vibrating...

But back OT, back in '81 when I got into D&D, I didn't think it would be around this long. I thought it would be a trendy thing for awhile and then fade away. It made me sad to think that way, but I was determined to play as long as I could roll dice. I am so happy to still have this game making the rounds. I'm 41 and I hope it outlives me.
