4e Delux Leather?

Sep 04, 2008 5:53:08 Is the Deluxe edition of the 4e player's handbook leatherbound?

A LOT of book seller sites are listing the book as leatherbound, but amazon's description shows it as a "Foil cover" and the picture does not appear to be leather bound.

I pre-ordered the deluxe edition in June thinking it would be leather, but if it turns out to be foil, like I suspect, I'm going to cancel that pre order for sure. I'm not paying more then DOUBLE the money for some silver paint and shiny page edges.

I bet it won't contain any errata either.

I'd like to see an official responce to this one.

Looks like it is just shiny paper and a couple of attached page ribbons. That's really disappointing; is anyone really going to pay an extra 25 or 35 bucks for that?

Sep 05, 2008 8:25:36 WTF its not been 2 months since the release of 4th E and there now releasing the deluxe edition with corrections and improvements what a bunch of crap...at least they could do is let us who bought the first run turn ours in for equal credit for the corrected and improved edition.....who the hells is running this money grubbin scam....

If you're more practical, you buy the Player's Handbook, but if you really want something special, you buy the deluxe edition with an excellent looking color, gilded pages, and all the current errata.

It can't be a scam because, frankly, it's sold to certain type of customer. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it.

Also, I just want to say that getting errata to a new edition that's still being playtested is not abnormal. I don't understand why people are so riled up about errata. It's like getting a patch for a computer game that fixes glitches. It's just not economically viable for Wizards to trade in books. Think of how much money they'd lose... you wouldn't even have Wizards around if they lost all the money on their core book.

I believe that he's right... Besides, really, the only real money-grubbing scheme that WoTC seems to have is DDI. I saw it at PAX, and it's not worth that price yet. It might be in the future, but not now.
