Hi all,
Anyone know when (if?) WOTC will produce a 4e modern rule set? Or any third party vendor?

I am keen to run a sci-fi campaign but I really like the new "action packed" 4e combat. I cant go back to any 3.5e derivative game. Looked at SW but its sooo third edition. Same with modern.

Thanks.

It would be cool, but I don't think they ever made enough money off of d20 modern to bother going anywhere with it. Remember WotC is running a buisness and that means doing what will get you money.

That is great news. I'd be interested in some information on that. I miss the d20 Modern setting. I used it only a few times but it's just so versatile... Whenever I wanted to play something that was out there (historical fiction in 15th century France, digital battlefield like Tron, future space opera a la Iain M. Banks) d20 Modern had my back. I'm glad it didn't get to the point where they were churning out useless books but I think a single SRD-compatible sourcebook would make them tons of money and stimulate a bunch of third parties like we saw with Cthulu d20, Dawning Star, etc.

I'm busy creating my own future 4e rules. (of course heavily based off of the current game right down to the powers. Weapons armor, vehicles etc etc are enough to make in my opinion)

I will be a very happy camper when they release some scifi rules or even modern rules.

So what’s a good “kludge” system until 4e modern comes out? Any recommendation?

Seems like the SW RPG Saga edition is as close as it gets. Be easy to “bolt on” a lot of the options to make it more 4e and it already has a framework for a sci-fi game (force easily translates to psionics for example). The most difficult conversions seem to be the will, encounter and daily powers and the monster encounter make up which is 100% 3.5.
