Has there been, or is anybody aware of, any knowledge on whether Kara-Tur will receive the 4E treatment, or a similar Eastern-inspired realm? I am particularly fond of the setting and flavour of the setting, so it would be a a great relief to see the setting 4E-ified. Plus it would give us an excuse to finally have some martial arts related classes and abilities.

Thoughts?

I loved Kara-Tur, and if they do an Asian inspired campaign setting, I would like a little less focus on Japan and China (though of course I want them included), and a little more focus on India, Korea, Nepal, South-East Asia etc.

It would be neat to see other Oriental cultures make a mark on the design flow of such a setting, races and the like. Being an avid fan of literature, books such as Outlaws of the Marsh, Journey to the West, Tōkaidōchū Hizakurige and others have always been dear to my heart. It would simply be a great joy to hear any news on the fate of Kara-Tur. Considering the popularity of the setting, it may be possible since It has survived multiple Editions. Yet with no official word out yet, (that I am aware of), I find myself anxious for news.

It was really only in 1st Ed, and sort of bled into 2nd Ed a bit.

But I'm with you, I want a post Spellplague Kara-Tur!

...You should relaly check the first page for threads similar to the one you plan to make a topic on before you post. 4e OA is actually a popular topic.

Considering I posted this first in the General Forums, unaware that this specific forum even existed, I think I would be hard pressed to know what is what, and where is where. Or so I do believe. Glad to see I'm not alone however, much obliged.

Hopefully if they do produce a 4e Kara-Tur, it will be removed from the Realms like it started off as.

This. I'd also cut Al-Qadim and make it an independent setting.

Heck, if Wizards wants to write a Dragon article that would show how to include Kara-Tur in the FR setting fine, but they should make Faerun replace an established area west of the Kara-Tur region. I.E. if they release Kara-Tur, have a region detailed out in the west that is somewhat medieval fantasy and give it a name and some background. If an FR DM wants to use Kara-Tur in his/her game, have that region get replaced by Faerun.
