Man, they are going to have a hard time fitting a 2 or More From *insert long winded title* for the second book in that line.

Fun Title. The emphasis on the marketplace - 'Emporium' - is appropriate enough.

Regarding length, its always going to be 'MME1' anyway.

Perhaps the "line" will have different titles (though probably similar), ala some of the 3.5 "lines" (like the environment books).

Here's hoping there's more of what people want in there - though personally I find "item fluff" to be the number one most likely fluff for me to completely ignore (so if there is more of it in there, that's just less content for me to be content with).

Frito: 'different titles'

I hope not. LOL! The X Power series are already annoying when they dont stay together in alphabetical lists. Couldnt they have called them Power Arcane, Power Psionic, and so on?

Now now Haldrik, are you saying that you wouldn't want "Raistlin's Radical Emporium" "Drizzt's Dynamic Emporium" "Kalack's Killer Emporium" etc.

That just might be fun now, but to be serious for a second, it's nice but I think they could have stuck with the AV line, or changed it to what it's called in Dragon, which escapes me right now.

note: sorry if I misspelled Kalack, could exactly remember the exact spelling for the Dark Sun guy.

If it gave me some more Eberron-specific fluff'd items, I think I'd accept something like a

I wish they'd change character builder so i could type in other items my character has, and bring back mundane items like shoes, boots, gloves, etc. while i can equip myself with magical threads, sometimes it's nice to add some flava like 'boots made from snake leather from that adventure we had in the jungle'.

if i line all my books up on the shelf in alpha order, it's difficult to find the right one since there's so darn many of them. i agree, the powers books should be titled in a manner so they'll sit on the shelf next to each other.

I think it's a way to highlight that its a little different book with more fluff in it. And by the way putting half the name of a 1st edition spell in the title is a stroke of genius

You can create your own items using the houserule button.

I wish they would release a book titled "All the non magical mundane junk missing from the Players Handbook'.

Yes, some days I find it a chore to invent out of the blue on the spur of the moment prices for every last item you can buy at Zellers/Canadian Tire/Walmart/Sears.

'I want to buy furniture for the groups new hang out, what's it going to cost me?'

Groan, roll me a wisdom check. Ok you spend the day and at the end of the day you find you have stupidly spent 40% of your on hand cash resources, your friends are annoyed, but you found some really nice looking stuff including this chair you absolutely love.

'Don't you have specific prices?'

Major double groan.

What was wrong with 'Adventurer's Vault 3'?

Fresh recruits off of Essentials would feel they had to buy 1 and 2 first :-)

I think the biggest reason why this is Mordenkainen's Magnificent Emporium rather than Adventurer's Vault 3 is to prevent people from feeling overwhelmed by prices, one of the design goals of Essentials

It emphasises being an expansion to classic items like flaming sword and bag of holding – essentially, ignoring that there were two Adventurer's Vaults before it, and catering to people who only bought the PH1 or Essentials

If they called it Adventurer's Vault 3, people who had just bought the Red Box, or maybe picked up Heroes of the Fallen Lands and the Rules Compendium, would feel like they had to buy Adventurer's Vaults 1+2 first – because this is the third expansion in that series.  It would be like buying and reading Return of the King before ever picking up Fellowship of the Ring or The Two Towers.  However, by changing the name, they make it like reading Lord of the Rings before The Hobbit

"If you enjoyed LotR, did you know he wrote a prequel?  It came out first, and features some of the periphery characters.  You should try that one, too!"

That's basically the mantra WotC seems to be toting.  They list Adventurer's Vault 1+2 as related products, but only mention them in small print later and not in any of the promotional text – because this should stand alone, rather than be an expansion.

Well the book is funny (seen it before) and Rod's lists might likely be just decent enough to merit shamelessly copying them. But I tend to feel less heat from players if I can point to official print if they have a beef with the prices.

The book related portion of the response though is more about players often needing to roll dice to decide everything. I prefer less dice rolling if possible. But formal prices at least allow consistency.

More redundant material or will this offer something new to those of us who have the older books? Personally, I don't need new versions of existing 4e items. So I'll be skipping this if it doesn't offer enough new material.

Or the books could be put in a different order... by subject or contents. Libraries do that and it works well for them. I used to do it for my game library, and it worked fine for me.

Well, his name does show up in the PHB along with Bigby.
