| #3sakriJun 20, 2009 14:19:27 | Looks like they got rid of that stupid nose spike! |
| #4thebadbishopJun 20, 2009 14:26:55 | Looks like they got rid of that stupid nose spike! Um, there is a spike on its nose in that pic |
| #5NivedJun 20, 2009 14:27:13 | Darn, I was hoping for a huge blue to compliment my gargantuan blue, large blue and medium blue (or was that wyrmling small. oh well) *Edit looking at the picture of the full set is it me or is the large war troll bigger than the huge Storm Titan? |
| #6Tharag_BoccJun 20, 2009 16:53:23 | Um, there is a spike on its nose in that pic Maybe so, but it seems to be noticeably smaller and less pronounced then the MM artwork and the large green from the 2008 starter. I'd rather have 3E style green dragons, but I'll settle for this. |
| #7doctorhookJun 20, 2009 17:05:05 | Looks like they got rid of that stupid nose spike! Nope, it's there and it's beautiful! (The angle merely hides it.) Too bad for you suckahs. :P EDIT: I'm minorly annoyed that it appears to be missing the spikes that run down along its spine, though. |
| #8Tharag_BoccJun 20, 2009 17:28:03 | EDIT: I'm minorly annoyed that it appears to be missing the spikes that run down along its spine, though. Fine, I'll settle for that then. I'd "razz" you back, but I personally find that emote to be in poor taste. I don't condone those who choose to use it, I just prefer not to myself. |
| #9subsistcyberJun 20, 2009 19:53:38 | Awesome find. Edit: Eeew... now that I see it, I dont think I want it. |
| #10doctorhookJun 20, 2009 21:22:53 | Fine, I'll settle for that then. He's smiling! It's not a hateful raspberry... |
| #11Tharag_BoccJun 21, 2009 0:45:39 | He's smiling! It's not a hateful raspberry... I know it's all in good humor, that's why I don't mind others using it. It's just not my style. |
| #12NydeJun 21, 2009 8:29:00 | Awesome find. I was hoping for a more relaxed pose and wasn't really crazy over it the first time I saw it(but still thrilled it was Green). I must admit after looking at it 1000 times I really like it a lot, although it might be tricky at times on the map due to the fact it is way outside of it's base. My wife loved it from first look.:D |
| #13red_wizardJun 21, 2009 8:43:29 | Now if only the mini's would release with something close to that paint job. -RW |
| #14SilentQJun 21, 2009 17:41:01 | Good lord, how hard is it to make minis that actually stay within the confines of the amount of space they're supposed to take up? |
| #15Tharag_BoccJun 21, 2009 20:48:47 | Now if only the mini's would release with something close to that paint job. Those figure aren't paint masters or the like. The actual product should look just as good, if not better (I've heard these pictures are of factory rejects). |
| #16TheLoneClericJun 22, 2009 8:34:11 | I wonder where or where has my Dracolich gone? |
| #17Vilnias_NastavnikJun 22, 2009 10:39:57 | I wonder where OH where has my Dracolich gone? Right here, #31/60 http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mg/wotdq |
| #18CCSJun 22, 2009 20:17:56 | I keep hoping for a gargantuan Green to sit beside my Black, Blue, & White. |
| #19doctorhookJun 22, 2009 20:30:30 | I keep hoping for a gargantuan Green to sit beside my Black, Blue, & White. Me too! But we've got a lot of work to do if we're ever going to convince them to make more Icons. (It won't be for another few years in this economy, I'm afraid!) |
| #20Tharag_BoccJun 22, 2009 22:09:36 | Me too! But we've got a lot of work to do if we're ever going to convince them to make more Icons. (It won't be for another few years in this economy, I'm afraid!) Sad, but true. There still sitting on the gargantuan Orcus that was fully designed, but never went into production. With the current set of published adventures obviously leading to a final confrontation against the demon prince of the undead there was some hope he might finally see release, unfortunately we'd likely have unofficial confirmations by now if that were the case. Anyway, as it stands now the gargantuan green is the absolute last thing I want to see produced for the icons line (I hate the new artistic direction they took in 4E). Sad as it was the dragon I would have been most looking forward to back in 3E. |

I'd love to get my hands on that sweet-ass Orcus Icon they were showing off! Damn. As for Gargantuan Green, what if it was a nice pose, and you just neatly filed off the nose spike? (I gather the other spikes are generally less offensive to some fans.) *looks up at username* ![]() |
| #23Tharag_BoccJun 26, 2009 0:07:14 | As for Gargantuan Green, what if it was a nice pose, and you just neatly filed off the nose spike? (I gather the other spikes are generally less offensive to some fans.) For an icon I'd likely feel the need to go all out, filing off all the spikes and then getting some of that green sculpting junk people use to help customize their minis so that I could give it 3E (and 2E, IIRC) style "fins". Though I'm not sure I've got the talent for that so I might have to find a "professional" and probably end up paying them to do it, by which point I might as well get them to paint it as well, all of which could easily triple the price of the mini. Then of course it would likely look 10x better than all my other dragon icons, so I'd probably feel the need to get them painted as well (big red at the very least). Yes I am a rather OCD, regardless, it's all a path that I don't want to get started on. I'm happier not having a gargantuan green than having to go through all that trouble. Granted I still hope the icons line returns one day, which will no doubt eventually include a gargantuan green, and I will be very happy for all of you that actually like the HORRIBLE new style greens, but I'll still curse WotC for for changing the greens while I embark on my undesirable but never the less compulsory course. On a side not, I would hate the new greens much less if they weren't the ONLY dragon to get such a drastic face lift. I'm still thoroughly convinced (or possibly deluded) that the only reason WotC changed the green, but none of the others is because there was no icon. Nobody try and feed me that line about greens being the only dragon to not have a distinctly D&D image either, not when reds might as will be Tolkien's Smaug. |
| #24NydeJun 26, 2009 13:30:35 | I too would like to see the traditional Green dragon look. So you heard it here Mr. Peter Lee let's get the D&D Icon series completed. Gargantuan Green, Red, Hydra and maybe a Gold or iron :D Traditional designs normal non-prop pose. |
| #25doctorhookJun 26, 2009 18:34:59 | Don't listen to them! This creature is beautiful!![]() If we wanted a Gargantuan Crocodile, we'd ask for it! The horn must stay! |
| #26Tharag_BoccJun 26, 2009 18:46:31 | Don't listen to them! This creature is beautiful! But it's not half the work of art that his older brother is.

Now that's majestic. If we wanted a Gargantuan Crocodile, we'd ask for it! The horn must stay! Better a crocodile than some kind of thorn covered snake, and leave the horns to unicorns and blue dragons, they both pull it off so much better. |
| #27darth_azalinJun 27, 2009 3:05:04 | Lets say this will be the next set. Draconians - So then Dragonlance must be coming sooner than later URL="http://photo.163.com/photo/cobramountain/?u=cobramountain#m=2&ai=50369520&pi=2335618552&p=1"] Draconian #2 The Duergar Cleric of Asmodeus is a great touch. Since he has a hand in their evolution or creation depending on how you few it. Who could be afraid of a YOCHLOL TEMPTER? I would have been in a panic before seeing this creature but I don't think so much now. |
| #28doctorhookJun 27, 2009 17:47:06 | But it's not half the work of art that his older brother is. It's a nice mini, sure enough, but that's just not how they look in 4E. ![]() |
| #29Tharag_BoccJun 27, 2009 18:09:49 | It's a nice mini, sure enough, but that's just not how they look in 4E. ...and you point? I'm well aware of the artistic change, doesn't mean I have to like it. I also don't have any delusions that WotC will revert that change, though the more subdued features of the new huge green dragon give me some hope that future artistic representations may be equally more tolerable. Anyway, since you were posting you love of the new greens (by using the worst, IMHO, representation of it's breed no less), I felt reasonably justified in doing the same for preferred style (using what is likely not only the best large green mini, but possibly the best large dragon mini ever). Which I will admit might be a little unfair, but it's not my problem you have bad taste. ![]() |
| #30thalminJun 28, 2009 7:22:26 | Did anybody notice that the huge Elder Green Dragon is listed as an UNCOMMON? As is the huge Elder Iron Dragon. edit All the huge figs are uncommon, are they the Visibles in this set? |
| #31traeplien777Jun 28, 2009 8:54:34 | Did anybody notice that the huge Elder Green Dragon is listed as an UNCOMMON? Indeed they are. Which is great, except most huge figs are ones that usually only occur once per encounter ![]() |
| #32nielsonjJun 28, 2009 8:59:05 | Did anybody notice that the huge Elder Green Dragon is listed as an UNCOMMON? The Huge are visible in the set. http://www.ddmspoilers.com/mm_02.php |
| #33elwyndasJun 28, 2009 22:17:19 | I created an overview of all dragon minis released so far. http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1209899 Huge Blue and Black are the ones we need most I think. |
| #34Guroth_the_ForsakenJul 01, 2009 11:45:57 | It's a nice mini, sure enough, but that's just not how they look in 4E. That's how they look in MY 4e. :P The 4E sculpt is nice; it's even a faithful rendering of that ugly ass head. I'd cut it off and replace it. I do favor the 3e green a lot. The horn placement on the 4e nose is just SO freakin' stupid! I'd take a crocodile-esque tail over a dire draconic dino-woodpecker head any day! ![]() |
| #35corwynnJul 01, 2009 12:01:56 | The horn placement on the 4e nose is just SO freakin' stupid! I'd take a crocodile-esque tail over a dire draconic dino-woodpecker head any day! Agreed! |
| #36doctorhookJul 01, 2009 13:02:51 | Truth is, I didn't mind the old look either. But I also don't mind the new look -- I got used to it -- and I also agree that anything to make D&D dragons appear more iconic and distinct is a good thing. |
