It would be great if there was a set of Dungeon Tiles that had pictures of the vehicles in the Adventurer's Vault books.

The thick cardboard tiles would be perfect for making chariots, airships, and even the Apparatus of Kwalish, and the reverse side of the tiles could have ruined/burning versions of the same vehicle.

This is a hell of an idea! (And by that I mean, I like it!)

...Assuming, of course, that you mean what I think you mean; that you'd like to see Dungeon Tiles of the layout of these vehicles, so that you could host battles upon the deck of a galleon, and airship, and so on.

I'd like to see a dungeon tile set for aquatic settings, such as pirate ships to sea floors.

That's exactly what I mean -- put the miniatures on the tiles, and put the tiles on a map, and you can have a running battle between racing chariots or floating airships. Ramming speed!

I concur. I don't use dungeon tiles much, but these I would use. Beats the hell out of the 1" laminated graph paper we use now

Totally. Actually, use a 2' x 3' pad of 1" grid paper I bought at an office supply store, and predraw all of my maps prior to the session. I have a number of Dungeon Tiles, because I think they're a cool product, but honestly, I have trouble using them; I don't like having to try to lay stuff out on the fly, especially when it comes to sorting through dozens of (sometimes very tiny!) pieces of cardboard.

That said, I would definitely use these! And I would use them as "miniatures vehicles" too, moving them around the map with minis on top, like the OP suggested.

Yes, this is a great idea. Perhaps one set of DTs that puts generally useful PC-centric templates into one package, with vehicles, mounts, and spell/evocation/prayer AoE templates, along with some additional goodies, of course?

Mounts too? Great idea! Mounts as tiles, rather than minis; why hasn't anyone done this already?

As for AoE templates, I'm not sure that I'd use them, generally. For marking Zones, OTOH, I definitely would! Although I'd personally prefer if they were transparent, so that I can still see the map underneath, so maybe they'd be better as some kind of hard plastic, rather than cardboard.

That's precisely what I was talking about. Walls (think 12 1"x1" squares of ice, 8 of fire, 8 of fog, etc), zones, conjurations, some other effects like the Druid's Flame Seeds or Twisting Vines, etc.

Make 'em 2" x 1" tiles for those walls, and we've got a deal!

Deal! (and duh! *smacks forehead*) Plus, maximize efficiency even more: Flaming Sphere can be stuck smack dab in the middle of the Flame Seed template, in the punch-out hole-in-the-middle square (and do similar for other such templates). :D

I don't care much for the magical effects, but I would love to see vehicles (and mounts) represented as Dungeon Tiles in the (hopefully near) future.

I would love to see different "sections" for ships (which could double as Airships) - maybe a group of 8x4 tiles that had a "deck" level on one side, and a "belowdecks" on the other, for one "big" ship. Have a lot of "add-on" style features on some tiles, and some smaller vehicles (and mounts). Maybe some Dock tiles to fill in the gaps (preferably with at least one transition to the city-streets tiles).

While I usually prefer a battlemat to dungeon tiles, I did find a trick that can help. To set up a room prior to play, go to your local hardware store and pick up some "Quake Hold" or similar non-permanent fixing putty, and use it to place your tables, chairs braziers and whatnot in place in the rooms ahead of time. Usually, if you are going room by room you can just lay them out in order. Otherwise you can use the same putty to afix the entire map to a covered artist's board with the same putty, and pull them off to place as needed, or drop in the whole board if it is an open space. Multiple boards can stack for different sections.
