PHB seems to be geared toward everyone using some sort of heavy/light blade. Or at least thats where the most feats are =p

now we have swordmage in fr...which is focused on heavy/light blades

so just hoping you guys at the staff have enough....errr........ common sense to realize that YES blades may be the most popular weapon but there are tons of others out there that need your help!

I know there is hammer rhythm but not much else...whoopty freakin doo

small races get the most weapon damage out of a scimitar currently because it's the highest dice-sized non-versatile weapon they can carry... OH LOOK ANOTHER HEAVY BLADE!

Everytime you buy that fancy longsword, Kord kills a pick

So please...think of the picks.....and axes...and spears....and so forth.

Even though it's blades I hope they add some oriental weapons in there and what I would love to see most is a Long Composite Longbow and specialty arrows/bolts. ^^.

Yes, I agree with this. It would be nice to get a bow that has a proficiency of +3 as currently the only ranged weapon that does is a shuriken.

Specialty arrows would be neat. I cant wait to get some arrows with different effects in my game.

Based on comparing 3.x with 4.x you should be able to translate most any weapon into a 4e weapon, and making feats for house rules and the like isn't hard either when using other feats as baselines or comparisons.

I don't really see how the adventurer's vault would provide any 'love' for the non-blade weapons. If anything the guide would just add more of them, that don't have any 'love'.

The only book that would provide such, would be the martial handbook which may have new powers for the fighter that focus on other weapons.

As to the staff though, while it may show up in martial power, I think it may be more a focus for the monk class. I do hope this isn't the case however. I would love to build a staff using fighter that has some bonus' or powers that accentuate the weapon. Or at least some I can mulit-class with and give my wizard a couple of tricks with his chosen implement.

This thread links to a GSL document that has love for flails and maces! (Ebon Blade Production's Next Level, I think)

Well the previw today showed that there'll be at least one new weapon (With Gauntlets of Destruction built in no less) the Executioner Axe, and being that it has also showcased a new weapon keyword we can safely infer that there will be more weapons in Adventurer's Vault

Hopefully we'll get a Lucerne Hammer, a Lance, an Atlatl, a Whip, a Sling-Staff, Bladed Gauntlets, and Finger Blades.

In an interview it was stated that the book will also include the biggest hammer possible, so that is two non-blade weapons for you.

I would definitely love to see a battle boomerang as an exotic weapon and hopefully a battle scythe that has a 1d8-1d10 damage. I just feel that the scythe they have in here is weak sauce for damage.

Executioner's axe looked cool ^.^ brutal sounds nasty O_O

AND MORE 1 HANDED WEAPONS WITH DECENT DAMAGE FOR SMALL CHARACTERS, ALL WE HAVE SO FAR IS SCIMITAR (and rapier if you want superior weapon power)

Seems like the PHB was a little light on variety & they were holding back something for use in a later book, so I'm thinking that AV will give us all the basic weapons we can handle, since their writeups don't exactly take up a lot of space.

I really hope they dont just up the damage die and make it exotic. It would be a 2d8 hammer, for crying out loud. Thats 2d10 with bugbear and minotaur characters!

How about Make it Superior, Up the Damage Code, Add the Polearm Type, Add the Reach 2 and Brutal 2 Keywords

I'm guessing that, along with the execution axe, they'll have the fullblade and greathammer to round out the selection of superior, massive 2-handed weapons.

Maybe add a greatmace (two-handed mace) as well, for when they expand on mace options in the martial power guide. Maybe even a war scythe (for pick options) and a lance (for more spears and/or expansion of mounted combat) as well.

There might even be some more exotic options included, such as:

Whips (one-handed reach weapon with low damage)
Boomerangs and/or Chakrams (for extra throwing weapon options)
Nunchaku, sais, and other 'monk' weapons (they may wait for the monk to be closer to release for these, but then again we already have shuriken)

What we really need is for the Martial Power book to have decent feats for flails and spears.

ya mean like that one from the Conan the Barbarian movie

I forgot about the "Acme" hammer that one of Thulsa Doom's general wields. Even on the big muscular guy it looked so cartoony. I got to watch that movie again.

"Conan! What is best in life?"
"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women."
