So, any D&D XP news about the MM2?

Various information I can recall:
Same general number of monsters as MM1 (D&D XP)
Demogorgon (It's on the Cover, duh)
Metallic Dragons (back when MM1 was released)
Frost Giants (back when MM1 was released)

Rust Monster is about it from DDXP. We pretty much know what's going to be inside:

more devils, more demons, more archons, more angels, more giants, more oozes, more beasts, more dragons, a couple skeletons, some higher level intelligent undead, a few more zombies, a skeletal magic-using undead that isn't a lich, some beasts, a really weird insect like thing, some abominations, a dinosaur or two, a dozen or so creatures with unpronounceable names, a couple narrowly-themed humanoids (this will be fun now that they promised not to plow through the rich soils that are -Elf), a carnivorous plant, pre-canned PHB2 race samples, and something with bizarre/unplayable special rules.

I'm also expecting more pre-canned PHB1/MM1 humanoids using the PHB2 classes. I.e. expect an entry on Goblins that has Shaman, an Elf Avenger of Sehanine, and a Dragonborn Sorcerer. There's also going to be a Primordial.

I'm curious what the highlighted part means.

3e monster manuals, you could always count on there being some ridiculously narrow Elf or Dwarf sub-race (sometimes both!) like sea elves, then water elves, then stream elves. The designers promised "no more!" in Races and Classes, but insanely narrow environmental evolutions are such a standard trope of sci-fi/fantasy (planets and races dedicated entirely to a single geographic element) that I doubt they'll be able to avoid it. Expect a race of humanoids who's sole defining feature is that they live in a desert or are made out of coral.

Tangentially Anthros half-count because it's really just substituting -people for -people.

Personally I'd like to see a few more dinosaurs. We got two official dinosaurs in MM1 and if you fudge around the Drakes a few can function as smaller raptors but I run a campaign with high octane blockbuster cliches, among which I've got Wild Elves in a King Kong and Jurassic Park type island that is kinda dull right now without some more dinos. At the very least could we get functional large size raptors and a T-Rex.

Triceratops is in Adventurer's Vault under "Mount".
