| #13rdEyeFrogJun 30, 2010 8:42:55 | Castle Ravenloft hits shelves in 6 or 7 weeks yet I don't see any previews. Will they do a preview for this boardgame? |
| #2yellerSumnerJun 30, 2010 10:14:02 | There've been a couple of teaser pictures released. Not sure when/if we'll get a proper preview. twitpic.com/1hkbsq www.wizards.com/dnd/images/387-ampersand... |
| #3ah_plaguedJun 30, 2010 12:12:07 | Thanks for the image links. Looks a bit like a D&D version of Descent. For those that don't mind painting there also appears to be a fairly wide selection of miniatures. |
| #4Duke5150Jun 30, 2010 20:34:48 | I'll be picking this and the other D&D games up for sure. It's nice to rotate what the group plays now and then. Right now it's mostly just DDM and 4e, so this will add another cool option for us. (still need to get the underdark heroscape stuff) |
| #5yellerSumnerJul 02, 2010 17:31:07 | Ampersand had a snipit, another picture, and we get to see one of the monster cards. wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/dramp... |
| #6_Mithreinmaethor_Jul 03, 2010 1:19:20 | Well this is one more step toward DnD the board game and no more RP game. Thats because Ravenloft is now a board game and not part of the 4th edition RPG. |
| #7MechaPilotJul 03, 2010 18:48:18 | Thats because Ravenloft is now a board game and not part of the 4th edition RPG. That isn't explicitly true. The domains of dread have been folded into the core of 4e. There is supposedly an ongoing DDI article that describes these domains. |
| #8loonmaxxJul 03, 2010 19:58:15 | Well this is one more step toward DnD the board game and no more RP game. Or one more step towards baseless paranoia. Unless you think that the 1975 Dungeon boardgame was designed to do the same thing. |

load yer shotguns, salt yer doors. Them final days are a comin' |
| #10joydyheeJul 04, 2010 21:43:40 | Here is a partial list of D&D Board Games: 3E Board Game 2E Board Game Basic D&D Board Game There are also three other "Basic D&D" board games, and some non-wargame/non-RPG D&D-themed board games (D&D Clue, D&D Trivia). It seems there has been a board game version of D&D out in some form with each edition, if you include the Dungeon game listed earlier. |
| #11loonmaxxJul 05, 2010 0:44:34 | Here is a partial list of D&D Board Games: There was also the 2E Diablo Boardgame. My original post actually included all of these, but I revised it because I thought that Dungeon proved the point on its own. |
| #12pricklyJul 05, 2010 16:35:58 | If I'm not mistaken Runequest was a boardgame first |
| #13JandremJul 07, 2010 11:09:46 | Here is a partial list of D&D Board Games: There have been a lot more than just those. I owned 2 DnD board games that came out on the tail end of 2e, Dragon Quest and Dragon Strike. As a little kid, the shelves full of 2e rule books looked a bit intimidating for me(not to mention my meager allowance), but my brother and I put our money together and got those baord games, which were fantastic introductions to DnD, and RPG's in general. As for the Ravenloft board game, I am really excited for it. I have been running Ravenloft campaigns for the past 8 years, and the board game looks like a good casual, quick, fun game to play on off-nights. WotC's business practice's or people's preferences for certain editions shouldn't matter; the board game is edition-neutral. |
| #14Neutronium_DragonJul 07, 2010 14:23:11 | 2E also had the "Greyhawk Wars" boardgame - a copy of which is sitting atop the boxes behind me that hold my game books from that era. (Or the bits and pieces of those that haven't aged quite as well!) |

| #16ADHadhJul 09, 2010 15:54:46 | It still kind of amuses me that the cleric apparently has PHB warlord's face. |
| #17WebsterJul 11, 2010 10:27:26 | I have a Dragonlance board game. ![]() |
| #18GhostStepperJul 12, 2010 11:29:47 | I think i still have that 1E board game with tiamat on the front of the box somewhere. |
| #19joydyheeJul 12, 2010 21:04:52 | I think i still have that 1E board game with tiamat on the front of the box somewhere. This one? If so, that would be 2nd edition era, but basic D&D. If not that one, I would be very interested in knowing that of which you speak. |
| #20yellerSumnerAug 06, 2010 20:00:00 | ![]() Checked the Twitpic account, found some more pictures. twitpic.com/2bmyeb twitpic.com/2bm5p4 twitpic.com/2bm1oa twitpic.com/2a98sr Dragonborn Fighter card twitpic.com/2a94qh The little shield shaped things seem to be HP counters. | #21Oathwin_OakheartAug 09, 2010 10:48:25 | Not sure if anyone has posted this yet . . . There is a 2 part video on YouTube. They open the box, show all the parts and talk about how it plays. Looks good ! ! ! On a side note . . . You can order it at Chapters.ca for $47.02 + tax. Shipping is free in Canada. I have orderd mine. I think it will be a good way to get people in to D & D. |
