| #2TheLoneClericMar 24, 2009 17:20:37 | I am really hoping for an arcane archer PP. Way back in the early days of 4E they were talking about an Elemental Archer. *shrugs* |
| #3sigil_beguilerMar 24, 2009 17:25:36 | I think if there was to be one, it be a Ranger PP not one for the Sorcerer or Warlock. They have mixed Power Sources before with PPs so would make sense here too. |
| #4frozenchronoMar 24, 2009 17:45:21 | I can see them doing it a few different ways. It seems most likely they'd go with the requirement of being any arcane class. I see it do things like let you use your bow as an implement, add a damage type (cold, fire, ...) to your attacks, and give you a few exploding arrow powers. Rangers would have to MC to get into it but that's not a big deal. I wouldn't be surprised if it was in Arcane power. |
| #5cadfanMar 24, 2009 19:03:50 | I'd just make it a ranger paragon path. Paragon paths can change or mix your power source. Several already do. The easiest way to make this work would be to just start with a good archer, and then add magical effects. The only thing you'd lose would be the ability to use your bow for the range on your spells by shooting an arrow out to the origin point. I consider that an ok loss. Most arcane archers didn't have great spells anyways, due to the lack of spell progression. |
| #6fjw70Mar 24, 2009 19:10:31 | A reflavored Sorcercer using a bow as an implement would make a pretty cool arcane archer. |
| #7Crimson_ConcertoMar 24, 2009 19:14:08 | Way back in the day I made a topic about re-flavoring implements. Make a Wizard, take Wand of Accuracy, and re-flavor the Wand as a Bow. BAM! Look at that bacon sizzle. :D |
| #8McnancyMar 24, 2009 21:38:51 | In Dragon 369 they have a magic weapon called Pact Bow; it's a bow that lets Elves (more likely a Half-Elf) use it as a Warlock implement and 1/day you can use the bow's range for one of your Warlock powers, it's cheap too. |
| #9monzaMar 24, 2009 23:56:34 | PEACH anyone? |
| #10Lord_VentnorMar 25, 2009 0:01:03 | You know, the Artificer Playtest has the Arcane Power source, and uses ranged weapons for many of its spells. You could create an Arcane Archer with that. |
| #11undraveMar 25, 2009 1:15:19 | I think a Paragon path with the requirement 'Ranger, any Arcane class' would work, opening it up to both side of the MC spectrum. |
| #12big_peteApr 04, 2009 3:26:37 | There is an Arcane Archer build in the Character Concepts article in Dragon magazine it is a good read ![]() |
| #13BolongoApr 04, 2009 3:33:37 | There is an Arcane Archer build in the Character Concepts article in Dragon magazine And nobody (AFAIK) guessed which class they'd base it off. :P |
| #14big_peteApr 04, 2009 3:38:39 | And nobody (AFAIK) guessed which class they'd base it off. :P Very true, I was certainly very surprised but it works very well |
| #15undraveApr 04, 2009 5:57:13 | And nobody (AFAIK) guessed which class they'd base it off. :P the Warlock? |
| #16darkless_oneApr 04, 2009 6:02:33 | the Warlock? Bard. |
| #17big_peteApr 04, 2009 6:28:58 | Bard Multiclassed into Ranger at 1st level (using Hunters quarry), power swap feats and some cool new stuff from Arcane Power |
| #18DuskweaverApr 04, 2009 9:48:26 | And nobody (AFAIK) guessed which class they'd base it off. :P It's not that much of a surprise, given that the bard is the only arcane class that is proficient with bows. Pact Bow; it's a bow that lets Elves (more likely a Half-Elf) use it as a Warlock implement It doesn't work for half-elves. 'Dual Heritage' only applies to feat prerequisites. |
| #19The_JesterApr 04, 2009 11:41:01 | It'd probably work best as a multi-class PP, where you need both ranger and an arcane class to work. It looks like a recent Dragon article pitched how to do it, using an unseen bard build from Acane Power (archery bard, yay). |
| #20stogoeApr 04, 2009 14:24:01 | If I were to do it I'd let you swap the range of your ranged basic attack spells with the range of your bow, as well. Maybe if you did a paragon path, you could swap the range for any Ranged or Area spell with an Action Point instead of getting an extra action. |
| #21celticmuttApr 04, 2009 16:14:59 | If I were to do it I'd let you swap the range of your ranged basic attack spells with the range of your bow, as well. The Dragon article says there will be a Bard PP in Arcane Power that allows Bards to turn ranged powers into ranged weapon powers. Or something like that. Plus (even better), a Bard specific feat that lets Bards use Charisma as the attack stat (but not damage) for any Multi-class power. |
| #22thescalesoffateApr 04, 2009 17:07:19 | Plus (even better), a Bard specific feat that lets Bards use Charisma as the attack stat (but not damage) for any Multi-class power. Sweeeeet. Can't wait, hahaha. |
| #23big_peteApr 04, 2009 19:36:11 | Plus (even better), a Bard specific feat that lets Bards use Charisma as the attack stat (but not damage) for any Multi-class power. the feat is called Combat Virtuoso It will apply to mc powers from an mc feat. I wonder if it also include non-bard paragon paths or the half elf diletant? |
