Are we ever going to get another controller?

Nov 10, 2008 10:43:27 So far we have:

3 Defenders (Paladin, Fighter, Swordmage)
4 Leaders (Artificer, Cleric, Bard, Warlord)
4 Strikers (Warlock, Barbarian, Rogue, Ranger)
1 Controller (Wizard)

When are we going to see another controller? The Wizard is pretty boring IMO, and well I'm getting tired of all my groups having to have a wizard to fill out all of the roles.

Nov 10, 2008 10:50:39 We're getting the sorcerer. Another arcane controller. There is some concern, considering the sorcerer's history in 3rd edition as being, essentially, a wizard with a slightly different spell mechanic, over how different one arcane controller will be from another. There are two martial strikers, for instance, and they apparently "feel" different to play.

A fairly common idea about the sorcerer comes from a fluff mention of how they will not be in complete control of their powers. However, this fluff may have little to nothing to do with the actual implementation.

Nov 10, 2008 11:40:07 On the upside, controller is the most expendable role, so if nobody wants to play a wizard, it probably won't hose you.

Nov 10, 2008 20:36:57 Can I add if you check the House Rules forum I'm working on two controllers right now (they aren't posted you have to wait for them, I'll probably get them by the end of the month, maybe next year): the necromancer (arcane controller) and dervish (martial controller).

Yes, I'm working on a martial controller :P. No, it's not ranged nor alchemy :P.
