Next month the Assassin will be revealed. What do you expect it to be?
A Dexterity or Constitution based melee striker? I got this impression when they said that it would be one of the preferred classes of the revenant.

I'm thinking dex based with one build having con as a secondary.

Do you remember Shadow Hand school from Book of Nine Swords?

I think it going to be like that.

I'm hoping Dexterity primary, with either Int or Wis secondary, so it's different than the rogue. Having a constitution-based assassin just seems really silly to me.

Its been mentioned by wizards that the assassin is very much a shadow magic class. Shadow magic in 3.5 was noted to be physically draining, con was a useful stat, and the Shadowcaster class got a bunch of durability features. So its quite possible that con is secondary for the more shadow magic aspect of the assassin class. For example, a Dex/ Wis (or int) one could be more utilizing shadow magic in creative ways with his deadily stealth technique, while the con is just pure destructive shadow power at the tip of his dagger/shortsword/rapier.

If the assassin is DDI exclusive I hope that any article they produce will include full multiclass feats and hybrid rules so that they are fully playable from the start.

It is definitely exclusive. I would certainly expect the multiclass feat(s). But Idon't know about hybrid rules - I have expect not to see that til PHB3 comes out. Especially since the Ampersand last month said that a 3rd build for the Assassin would appear early next year - a dual 3rd build/hybrid rules release with the PHB3 would make sense. With meaning same month in Dragon, not in the PHB of course.

I hope there will be a Con-based build. I like the revenant and am looking to play one, taking racial feats based on Con. So far Con is the primary ability of only two builds of a single class (warlock).
I've been toying with the idea of playing a melee revenant with the appearance of one of the Shadow Beasts of Zelda Twilight Princess, and hopefully a Shadow source class like the assassin will give me a chance to do that.

Well, don't revenants favor the assassin class and they're dexterity/constitution.
