From the PH2 page previews for the Barbarian it seems that Rage is a Keyword just like Stance. I.E., once you spend a Daily to Rage you can Sustain it until the end of the Encounter as long as you continue to meet the Prerequisites. I'm guessing at least two of the prerequisites are the bloodied condition and spending a minor action, but that's just conjecture on what's out there now. So, if I'm right one could Spend a Daily after being bloodied to rage and every time they hit (theoretically) until the end of the encounter, dish out 3[W]. Which since Barbarians have to wield two-handed weapons, equals 6 damage dice!! That's much better than the playtest mechanic of using a chart for damage!!! I mean, I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a character deal 6d6+ damage consecutively than 7d6+ once!!!!!

Conjecture?

Huh?

Oh, I get it. You're not a DDI subscriber, are you?

The 3[W] damage is when you first attack and begin your rage. After that you only gain the other benefits of your selected rage for the rest of the encounter, until your unconcious, or until you start another rage.

@ Bolongo:

Yeah, you're right. I'm not a DDI subsriber. I want to be, but since I'm one of the statistics of the bad economy and lost my job recently, I sadly can't even afford $5 a month on DDI (which I think is an awesome deal, btw),;especially with a 2 year old daughter to feed. I hope to get a job this tuesday though so wish me luck, pray, do a goblin dance, whatever ;)

@ Dragoloth:

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that. Any chance you could tell me the basic benefits of a rage?

The playtest rules for the barbarian were one of the last things Wizards made available before charging for DDI.
